Just a few years after dinosaurs roamed the planet... a US Marine, by way of Lincoln country, married and living in Southern California, became a Certified Public Accountant. Over the course of the next 40 years, Richard E. (Ed) Fagan, CPA built his business serving the needs of the local community providing income tax and general accounting services. In 2008, his son, Kurt Fagan, joined the practice. As the business flourished, Ed and Kurt began to identify a problem in the accounting industry. Independent bookkeepers did not have the skill necessary to provide bookkeeping services that were up to par with the needs of those businesses. So, in 2015, the firm became two halves; on one side, a CPA firm seasoned with 40 years of tax experience. On the other, MyBetterBooks was formed to serve the simple but necessary bookkeeping needs of business clients everywhere. Hi! My name is Kurt and I am one of two partners that owns MyBetterBooks. I'm a native of SoCal I attended USC to study Music and Business, I'm married, with my first child on the way. I'm also very excited to learn about you and the dream that is your business. MyBetterBooks has been a vision of mine since I first got into accounting in 2001. I have always been an entrepreneur but I have not always had an accounting background. In college, I helped found a software design firm. Not knowing anything about accounting was a pretty scary thing during the dot com boom. There was money and business and sales, and at the tender age of 17, I couldn't hardly reconcile my checkbook. That experience, along with hundreds of others like it in the 16 years since helped shape MyBetterBooks and I am very excited to share it with you.
