🚨 2027 TAX TIP! 💰

Okay y’all, here’s some good news going into the 2027 tax season! 🙌🏾💰

The EITC increased for 2026 income! If you have 3 or more qualifying children, the maximum EITC went from $8,046 to $8,231! 👏🏾

Now listen, that does NOT mean everybody with 3 kids is automatically getting $8,231. Your credit depends on your income, filing status, and who qualifies as your child.

📌 Remember: You earn the income in 2026 → you file that income in 2027.

🚨 IRS Update: Some Taxpayers May Automatically Qualify for Penalty Relief!

The IRS has introduced a new Automatic Exemption from Penalty (AEP) program that could help eligible taxpayers avoid certain IRS penalties without having to request relief.

Here’s what you need to know:

✅ If you’ve consistently filed your tax returns on time and paid your taxes on time over the past three years, you may qualify.

✅ If you’re eligible, the IRS can automatically waive certain penalties for:
• Failure to File
• Failure to Pay
• Failure to Deposit

✅ There’s nothing you need to do. If the IRS applies the relief, they’ll send you a notice.

Keep in mind:

📌 This doesn’t erase the tax you owe or any interest that has accrued.

📌 Not every return qualifies, so eligibility depends on your filing and payment history.

💰 Thinking about making charitable donations this year? Here’s what you need to know!

The IRS has made some updates that could benefit taxpayers in 2026.

✔️ You may be able to deduct up to $1,000 in cash donations ($2,000 if you’re married filing jointly) even if you don’t itemize, as long as the donation is made to a qualified charity.

Before you donate, remember these tips:

📌 Donate to a qualified charitable organization. Giving money directly to an individual or a GoFundMe doesn’t usually qualify for a tax deduction.

📌 Keep your receipts, bank statements, or proof of payment. If you can’t prove the donation, you may not be able to claim it.

📌 If you donate $250 or more, ask the charity for a written acknowledgment before filing your tax return.

📌 Donating clothes, furniture, or other items? Keep a list of what you donated and its estimated value.

👋👋 Don’t Let Poor Recordkeeping Cost You a Tax Deduction!

If you make charitable donations throughout the year, keep good records. It can make tax season much easier and help support your deduction if you’re eligible to claim one.

Here are a few reminders:

✔️ In most cases, you must itemize deductions on Schedule A to claim charitable contributions.

🆕 Starting with the 2026 tax year: Even if you don’t itemize, you may be able to deduct up to:
• $1,000 in cash donations (Single)
• $2,000 in cash donations (Married Filing Jointly) Must be made to qualified charitable organizations.

📌 Keep these records:
💵 Cash donations – Save bank records, receipts, or written acknowledgments showing the charity’s name, donation date, and amount.

📝 Donations of $250 or more – Obtain a written acknowledgment from the charity before claiming the deduction.

📦 Non-cash donations – Keep a detailed list of the items donated, their fair market value, and any required documentation. Larger donations may require Form 8283 or a qualified appraisal.

🚨 🚨 IRS UPDATE: Standard Mileage Rate Increased Effective July 1, 2026 🚨

The IRS has announced a mid-year increase to the standard mileage rates effective July 1, 2026.

New Rates:
🚗 Business: 76¢ per mile (up from 72.5¢)
🏥 Medical & Qualified Moving: 23.5¢ per mile (up from 20.5¢)
❤️ Charitable: 14¢ per mile (unchanged by law)

📌 What does this mean?

If you’re a business owner, independent contractor, gig worker, or self-employed, your deductible mileage may be higher for miles driven on or after July 1, 2026.

If you’re a tax professional, be sure you’re using the correct mileage rate based on the date the miles were driven, since 2026 now has two different business mileage rates.

Always keep a detailed mileage log to support your deduction.
