Welcome back to Women Behind the Millions! In this powerful episode, host Jessica Weaver sits down with Kendall Klas, a licensed clinical social worker and founder of Find Your Light Counseling, to candidly discuss the realities of mental illness and its profound impact on families, especially parents of children and teens who are struggling. Drawing from both personal experience and professional expertise, Jessica and Kendall explore the staggering economic costs of untreated mental illness—citing recent statistics from Yale and Indiana University—while also unpacking the emotional and social effects on young people today.

Throughout the conversation, Kendall shares her own journey into the world of therapy, balancing her passion for the performing arts with a calling to help adolescents and young adults tackle anxiety, depression, and trauma. The episode delves into the signs that parents should look for, when to seek professional help, and how therapy can serve as a safe, judgment-free space. Jessica and Kendall also address the unique role of technology and social media in shaping the mental health landscape for today’s youth, offering practical tips for parents to navigate these new challenges and support their children with empathy and boundaries.

You’ll also hear about Kendall's innovative approach to blending therapy with the performing arts, and her vision for the future of Find Your Light Counseling. Tonight on Women Behind the Million we have the amazing Kendall Klas, a licensed clinical social worker, talking about the true impact of supporting mental health for teens and young adults. This conversation hit home as we talked about breaking stigma, supporting the next generation, and her unique integration of the performing arts into therapy.

Here are 3 key takeaways for parents, professionals, and anyone passionate about youth mental health:

🩷 Proactive Support Matters: If you notice changes in sleep, eating, or daily functioning in your teen that persist for weeks, don’t wait—engaging with a therapist can make all the difference and doesn’t mean “something is wrong.” It’s about providing a safe, neutral space to navigate challenges .

🩷 Healthy Boundaries with Involvement: Parents should focus on open-ended, non-judgmental questions after therapy sessions (“How do you feel?” vs. “What did you talk about?”). This approach fosters trust and encourages your child to share when they’re ready.

🩷 Meet Them Where They Are—Social Media & Anxiety: Today’s young people face unique challenges from technology and social media. Anxiety is on the rise, but so are resources and awareness. Equipping kids with coping tools, patience, and opportunities for creative self-expression can help them thrive .

Kudos to Kendall for championing mental health and trailblazing new ways to help teens shine their brightest—even planning therapy-integrated performing arts groups!

If you’re interested in more, check out the episode tonight at 7pm EST—let’s keep the conversation going and build a healthier, more resilient future.

It's not something you hear every day—but that's exactly what a young family said during a recent review.

Living on one income while dad searches for a new opportunity, they had done what many of us naturally do during uncertain seasons: kept extra cash in checking because it felt safe.

The good news? Their investment portfolio had earned an 11% net return.

The better news? We realized some of their cash could be working harder for them, too.

Together, we calculated what they actually needed for day-to-day living and their emergency reserve (about three months' worth felt right for them). From there, we mapped out a strategy: keeping near-term money accessible in a high-yield savings account while putting the remaining dollars to work toward longer-term goals through a conservative investment approach.

By the end of the conversation, nothing about their financial security had changed—but their money finally had a purpose.

Sometimes financial planning isn't about finding more money. It's about making the money you already have work smarter.

💬 How do you decide how much cash to keep in your checking account? Or is it something you've been meaning to revisit?

Welcome back, money queens, to another inspiring episode of Women Behind the Millions! In this special bonus episode, Jessica Weaver sits down with Josy Amann, co-founder of a woman-owned media strategy and intelligence agency. Josy brings over two decades of experience navigating the fast-changing world of media, consumer behavior, and attention—now considered the most valuable currency in business.

In their conversation, Jessica uncovers Josy’s unconventional path into media, starting from her early days with a double major in psychology and sociology, to finding herself at the forefront of San Francisco’s media scene right before the dot-com boom. Josy shares how her formative experience working for a strong female boss—rare at the time—inspired her own leadership journey, helped her embrace feminine qualities in her work, and gave her the courage to launch and scale a woman-led agency.

Listen in as Josy discusses the unique hurdles faced by women starting and growing businesses, especially while raising a family, and how her agency has adapted through breakneck growth, the challenges of maternity leave as a founder, and the rapidly shifting landscape of digital marketing. The episode also explores the differences between building brand awareness as a startup versus an industry giant, the importance of strategic and diversified marketing, and why the performance marketing craze led many brands astray.

Plus, Josy offers practical advice on building your network, finding mentors, and measuring what really works in media today. Whether you’re looking to grow your visibility, scale your company, or just need some extra inspiration from a woman who’s helped shape brands behind the scenes, this conversation is packed with insights, strategies, and encouragement.
