There's been a lot of conversation lately about Trump Accounts, and if you're feeling a little confused, you're not alone.
Here's the simple version.
If your child was born between January 1, 2025, and December 31, 2028, they may qualify for a new account that starts with a $1,000 government contribution. From there, family members can contribute up to $5,000 each year if the child is eligible.
What makes people pay attention isn't just the $1,000.
It's the opportunity to start investing for a child's future much earlier than many families have been able to before.
That said, this isn't automatically the right choice for everyone.
Depending on your goals, a 529 plan may still be the better fit for education. In other situations, a Trump Account could offer more flexibility for things like a first home, starting a business, or even building retirement savings.
The best option depends on your family's priorities, not the latest headline.
