Yesterday I passed and went into a new bank/ investment concept. Chase Private Client group. On Michigan Avenue. Talked to them. They want to be your complete banking/ investment/ tax/ planning / estate planning / for fees of course. Lots of personal attention but no clear answer about what investments/ fees or... great marketing but my sense keep your banking separate from your investing/ from your attorney and tax person. Great idea for them - this is the first of many planned. I am not sure it is best for many of my clients. I work with your investment advisors and often attorneys and of course you to present options and explain it all.

Something I learned but did not like today. Amazon hires independent contractors instead of employees to avoid paying social security/ Medicare and all benefits. Much less expensive for them but truly not good for them or all of us too...

The latest IRS update. Amended returns. Take 6-10 months to process. Then a deposit or yesterday a big check arrives ( with NO explanation or letter!). When I got a power of attorney and finally got through on the phone ( after asking what did I do wrong..lol), the answer was a huge refund for an amended with a big electric car credit efiled in October 2025! And of course interest. Usually we track amended but forgot about this one..

Just so you know... AI is taking over our lives. Including for some tax preparation. Cheaper for them. Maybe cheaper for you. But AI can never replace:
Listening to you
Checking to be sure
Finding missing documents
Explaining it all
Following up
Working on tax issues
Doing personalized tax planning
And especially caring about you too.

Another IRS notice that since they paid they could not send the amended refund ( which took me hours plus an in person visit to the IRS) because they had no bank account info. And they will not send checks ever! Nor will an IRS employee take banking info on the phone!! So over an hour plus later with me walking them through it online. They got an ID ME IRS account and were able to verify themselves and their banking info. They are exhausted. I am exhausted too. When they get the refund they owe me more than an ice cream cone..!!!

Last day. Way too many new worksheets and forms for 2027 tax year. Crazy for me/ crazy for you too. The good news. They asked if I would write a memorandum/ email with all my comments about notices ( not the least starting by saying This is an official IRS notice) and substantially better and detailed explanations for penalties/interest/ changes. She would forward my memorandum to the unit the designs notices...part of my "give back..."

Done at 4pm today/ going to the beach after!!!
