The 'One Big Beautiful Bill Act' (OBBBA), signed into law on July 4, 2025, by President Trump, marks the end of the IRS's free tax filing programs. This includes the termination of the IRS Direct File and IRS Free File programs. The U.S. House of Representatives proposed that the Direct File program conclude by December 31, 2025, impacting the 2026 tax season.

Tax season is just around the corner, and the IRS has officially announced that it will begin accepting business tax returns at 9:00 AM Eastern Standard Time on Tuesday, January 15, 2025. This marks the start of the filing season for businesses, providing an opportunity to get a jump start on meeting important tax obligations.

Personal returns typically open the last week of January. Projected date January 27th.

Just a reminder taxes are due tomorrow. (There are a few states that have extension extension deadlines, please feel free to reach out to see if that is you.)

Also, reminder that 2021 tax returns will not be eligible to efile starting next year and refunds on any of the 2021 returns will not be issued. (3 year window for refunds)
