We are happy to inform you of an exciting change within our firm.

Effective May 1, 2025, Janice L. Hull, CPA retired from Hull & Russell, P.C. and Tiffiany Nelson, CPA, has purchased the practice.

This transaction is something that we have planned and worked toward with hopes it would come to fruition at the right time. Most of you know Tiffiany as she has been a valued member of Hull & Russell for over 15 years.

Crystal Russell, CPA will remain with the firm, working alongside Tiffiany, serving you and your business needs.

We are confident that Tiffiany, Crystal, and the staff of Hull & Russell will continue to provide you with the same high level of quality service and expertise that you have come to expect from us. In the coming months, you will see a change in the name of the firm, but there will be no change in your service.

Ms. Janice Hull has had a very successful career as a Certified Public Accountant. She has been instrumental in so many lives, helping them reach their goals She had dedicated countless hours to her community in various areas. As a small token of our appreciation and gratitude we are hosting a retirement party for Ms. Hull. We hope everyone can come out and help us celebrate this exciting time for Ms. Hull.

Please be sure you do not throw this letter away. Also, watch for the letter containing information about the economic stimulus payment you received in 2021, You WILL need these letters to file your taxes. Both of these will come from the IRS.

Letter 6419 from the IRS will help parents accurately report the amount of money they received upfront in 2021 for the child tax credit.

Alabama Department of Labor Secretary Fitzgerald Washington has temporarily ordered that relief be offered to employers whose employees must file unemployment compensation claims for weeks filed due to COVID-19 related issues. All charges will be waived against those employers who file partial unemployment compensation claims on behalf of their employees. These charges will be waived until further notice. ADOL is encouraging all employers who can file on their employees’ behalf to do so. This waiver means that employers’ experience ratings will NOT be affected by COVID-19 related claims.

The income tax filing deadline is moving from April 15, 2020 to July 15, 2020 and all taxpayers and businesses will have this additional time to file their tax returns and make payments without interest or penalties. This relief also includes estimated tax payments for tax year 2020 that are due on April 15, 2020. The IRS will automatically provide this relief to taxpayers. Taxpayers do not need to file any additional forms or call the IRS to qualify for this relief. Associated interest, additions to tax, and penalties for late payment will also be suspended until July 15, 2020. The fastest and best option for getting refunds is to utilize the direct deposit option.

Our biggest priority during this uncertain time is the health and well-being of our clients and their families as well as that of our staff and their families. Our goal, as always, is to work to ensure that we maintain the highest levels of client service as well as provide you with uninterrupted service.
We have closed our office to the public; however, we encourage you to use our newly implemented drop-off and pick-up procedures. We are asking clients to utilize the drop box on the front porch when dropping off your tax information. Someone will collect your information and call you with any questions. We also ask that our clients call before arriving to pickup their completed tax return so that we can put your information inside the drop box, along with an instructional page.

We have had several clients call us with questions regarding the IRS contacting them by phone. According to the US Department of Justice the IRS never discusses personal tax issues through unsolicited phone calls, emails or texts, or over social media.
