Most people come to the Social Security decision with one question: when should I claim?
Here is the part that surprises them.
The claiming age is not really the decision. It is the last step of a bigger one.
Before you pick a number, it helps to know what you actually need each month, which accounts that income comes from, and what happens to your taxes along the way.
Claim earlier and the check may be smaller, but more of your savings can stay invested and working for you.
Wait longer and the check grows, but you are drawing on those savings in the meantime.
Neither one is automatically right. It depends on your health, your spouse, whether you keep working, and how the rest of your income is set up.
So the question is not really when to claim. It is what role you want Social Security to play in the income you will live on.
We are happy to walk through that with you, no pressure and no jargon. Schedule a Retirement Strategy Consultation with Jay Weinstein:
