Happy Monday! Hope you all are well and enjoying the summer! A quick update on the child tax advance payments that will start next month: The portal to opt out of the advance payments is now open! Use this link https://www.irs.gov/credits-deductions/child-tax-credit-update-portal to create an account and opt-out. The payments are considered advance payments on the 2021 child tax credit. The IRS has intended on giving you 50% of that credit now over the course of the next 6 months. Come tax time we will only have half of that amount to either help bring down your liability or plan as a refund. For some of you that may be okay, but for others we recommend the opt-out procedure.
