Some professionals assume their financial strategy is in better shape than it is. Not because they're careless. Because they're busy.

Today is National Financial Awareness Day. Four questions worth sitting with:

• If something happened to you tomorrow, would your family know what you have, where it is, and what to do?

• Are you on track to replace your income in retirement, or are you assuming you will be?

• Has your financial strategy changed as much as your life has in the last 12 months?

• If markets dropped tomorrow, do you have written goals or a general sense of what you'd do?

You don't have to answer all four today. But if one made you pause, that's the one worth paying attention to.

There is usually no single moment when the roles begin to shift with aging parents.

A confusing medical bill.
A missed payment.
A scam text that almost got clicked.

When and how do you step in without taking over?

The goal is not to take control.

The goal is to make sure helpful people, information, and safeguards are in place before decisions have to be made under pressure.

One potential conversation starter you could try…

“We are reviewing our own estate documents and realize we should understand where everything is.”

Sometimes, that is enough to open the door.

The families who tend to feel best about how this chapter goes are the ones who approached it as a proactive exercise rather than a response to a problem.

We are glad to be part of that process at whatever stage a family is ready to begin.

Travel fraud gets worse every summer, and we hear more stories from clients every year.

A quick login from the lobby.

A brokerage app checked from the airport lounge.

A bank balance pulled up at a cafe.

Public networks are where accounts can get exposed.

A few habits worth building before the next trip:

• Skip public WiFi for anything financial. Use cellular data or a personal hotspot.

• Turn on real-time transaction alerts for every card.

• Consider using credit, not debit.

• Watch for skimmers (devices attached to gas pumps and ATMs that copy card data).

A few minutes of preparation before the trip can help prevent months of cleanup after.

Your next party invite could be a trap.

Our team came across this one and wanted to pass it along.

Hackers are hijacking actual friends' accounts to send fake invites via Evite, Paperless Post, or Punchbowl.

The Domino Effect:

You hit RSVP in a friend's email. A fake login page steals your password. The same invite blasts to your entire contact list from your account. Hackers now have access to your banking, brokerage, and password reset services.

Here’s how to spot a fraudulent party invite!

Check the Sender: Real Paperless Post invites come from an official paperlesspost.com address, Evite from evite.com, and Punchbowl from punchbowl.com, not a personal email address.

Protecting your wealth starts with protecting the email tied to it. Hope this helps!

If something happened tomorrow, would your family know where to start?

In most households, one person handles the money. The bills, the logins, the insurance, the auto-pays.

The other believes it's being handled, which is fine until it isn't.

Here’s a suggestion:

• Build one shared document with every account and explain how to access it. Update it periodically.

• Consider having both names on the accounts you say are jointly owned.

• Check out a password manager you both can access.

• Keep a one-page summary in a safe place with what to do, who to call, and where to look.

The couples who do this often say the same thing afterward: “We should have done it sooner.”

Happy National Car Collector Day! ✨🚗

One of my favorite treasures is this Ford Fairlane, a special gift passed down from my dad that he purchased (brand new!) his senior year of high school. Every time I drive it, I'm reminded of the memories we've shared and the love of classic cars he inspired in me.

Six months of 2026 are gone.

If you're like most of the people we work with, the year hasn’t gone exactly the way you sketched it out in January.

• Maybe the market did something you didn't expect, and your priorities look different from what they did six months ago.

• Maybe a parent's health changed, or an adult child needed help, or a grandchild arrived, and now the estate strategy you finalized two years ago doesn't quite match the family.

• Maybe the business had a better year than projected, or you’re managing through some other issues.

• Maybe you sold something, bought something, retired, semi-retired, or finally admitted you're not going to retire when you said you would.

Any one of those is a reason to revisit your approach before December, not after.

The clients who feel most in control of their financial lives are the ones who don't wait until year-end to find out what the year actually was.

Who knows what the “GPT” in ChatGPT actually stands for?

I'm guessing very few people.

And that's fine, most of us just know it as something that's suddenly everywhere.

If you’re curious, it stands for Generative Pre-trained Transformer.

As you know, it creates new content, learns from an enormous amount of text, and understands context rather than just keywords.

But the more interesting question isn't what it stands for. It's what to actually make of it and how it will affect our lives.

AI is genuinely useful for organizing information, finding patterns, and explaining things quickly. It can be a big timesaver.

What it isn't good at is knowing you—your family, your goals, the tradeoffs that matter to you, and the context behind the numbers.

That's the part that still requires a person.

We're not AI experts. But paying attention to what our clients are hearing, reading, and wondering about is part of the job. If we can help make something feel a little less unfamiliar, that's worth doing.

Tell the truth, did you know what it stood for? Or are you like most of us, and you don’t care, you just like what it can do?
