Estimated taxes for Q3 are due on Friday.

Here's how to file:

Add up your sales and expenses for the reporting quarter.

Find your profit, revenue/expenses = profit/quarter.

Multiply your profit by your tax rate. (Your tax preparer can help with this.)

Make your payment at irs.gov/payments

Check one more thing off your "to do" list. 🤗

I want to preface this post by saying that this is NOT meant to discourage you from hiring a new coach! 🙅

My goal is for you to be able to confidently make big decisions for your business - and investing in a new coach or course is one of those decisions! 💸

Use outside help, freelancers, or contractors in your business?

When 1099 season rolls around next year, you're going to *wish* you had taken this advice! 📆

Ask your contractors NOW for their W-9s to ensure you have all the information you need to file their 1099 in January.

Want to make your accountant even happier? Get those W-9s BEFORE you hire your contractors and if not then, have them fill out a W-9 BEFORE you issue them a check.

If you’re a small business owner, chances are that at some point you will find yourself needing to hire outside help in the form of contractors or vendors. The IRS has some clear guidelines about how to do that.

Here’s what you need to know about IRS form 1099 as a small business owner.

IRS form 1099 is an information return filed by small businesses who have paid at least $600 in a calendar year to an individual or independent contractor who helps perform a service in your business and is not on your regular payroll or a W2 employee.

Some examples of compensation that falls under the guidelines of 1099 income are compensation paid as: fees, commissions, prizes, and awards.

Think you may be getting close to the threshold for an independent contractor in your business? It might be time to dig into what you’ve been paying them and have them fill out a W9 form for your records.

Having a bookkeeper keeping an eye on your numbers can help you be prepared to gather the information you will need to correctly report 1099 income at tax time.

It always helps to have an extra set of eyes on your business’ books.
