Retirement Planning Questions That Stand the Test of Time
Retirement planning isn’t one-size-fits-all. Over the years at Stonehenge Advisor Group, I’ve seen how lasting retirement strategies must reflect your unique lifestyle, health outlook, risk preferences, and timing. It’s not just about numbers—it’s about determining the right capital, savings, and investment mix that aligns with your personal values and addresses your concerns. The most enduring plans are those built thoughtfully around what matters most to you.

Why More Retirees Are Asking for a Second Opinion Before Buying an Annuity in 2026
As someone who has spent years guiding pre- and post-retirees through the complexities of retirement income planning, I’ve noticed a growing trend: more retirees are seeking a second opinion before purchasing an annuity for 2026. With so many options—fixed, indexed, variable, and hybrid annuities—all offering features like lifetime income and downside protection, it’s no surprise. The details around fees, flexibility, and how these products fit into your overall retirement strategy can be overwhelming. Independent advice can make all the difference in ensuring your annuity truly supports your long-term goals. At Stonehenge Advisor Group, our focus is always on designing a retirement plan tailored to your life, not just the products available.

US Boomers Can Close Retirement Gap
As someone who has spent years helping pre- and post-retirees design Tailored Retirement Income Plans, I pay close attention to projections like these: the average Baby Boomer faces a $9,000 annual retirement gap, and only about 40% are expected to sustain their lifestyle after leaving the workforce. For many, a typical income of $56,000 translates into roughly $120,000 in retirement savings outside of home equity—an amount shaped by pension changes and market fluctuations. If you’re a homeowner, it’s worth noting that your equity may be your most significant retirement asset. Exploring strategies like downsizing, relocating, renting after a sale, or considering a reverse mortgage can open up new income streams. Delaying retirement from age 65 to 67 may also help close the gap, allowing more time for your savings and federal benefits to grow. And starting in 2026, those 50 and older will be able to make an additional $8,000 in catch-up 401(k) contributions, which, along with minimizing early withdrawals, can strengthen future financial flexibility. The retirement landscape is evolving, but with a thoughtful plan, these challenges can be addressed.

How Retailers Can Use Data to Change Prices
Dynamic pricing—where two shoppers might pay different prices for the same product—has become much more complex and individualized with advances in technology. Philadelphia experts recently explained how retailers are using personal data, such as shopping histories, interests, and previous spending, to estimate what each customer might pay. While the practice of offering different prices to different groups (like adults and children) isn’t new, what stands out today is the sheer scale and confidentiality with which these strategies are implemented, often powered by AI. Retailers gather clues about buyers through membership programs, loyalty cards, and even social media, building detailed profiles that can influence online prices. For those looking to protect their privacy, experts suggest making shopping habits less trackable—for example, choosing to shop in person and avoiding loyalty programs. As someone who helps clients plan for a secure retirement, I find it important to stay aware of how data-driven pricing could impact spending habits and long-term financial strategies.
