August has a particular feeling to it.

Every operation has one.

The odometer stopped working during a different presidential administration. The driver's door needs a specific technique. There's a toolbox in the bed that hasn't been fully inventoried since roughly 2009, and a jacket behind the seat that belongs to nobody anyone can identify.

It has hauled feed, calves, fence posts, groceries, at least one Christmas tree, and a teenager to their first day of a job they hated.

Somebody offered to buy it once. That went about how you'd expect.

It doesn't need to be nice. It needs to start. And every single morning, it does.
