New on the blog: your mid-year financial checkup.
We are halfway through 2026, which makes right now the time to check whether your business is on track. Five quick numbers tell you most of the story, and you still have six months to course-correct.

We are halfway through the year. That makes July a good time to stop and ask a simple question: is your business actually on track for what you wanted in January? Most owners set goals at the start of the year and then put their heads down and work. That is not a criticism. It is what running a busin...

More sales does not always mean more money.

It is easy to celebrate a strong first half and miss that you are keeping less of every dollar than you did last year. Rising costs, discounts, and scope creep all quietly eat into your margin.

At mid-year, look past the top line and check what you actually kept after expenses. That number tells you whether the growth is working for you.

Not sure where your margin stands? Let's take a look together. Book a mid-year review at LOVServices.com.

We are officially halfway through 2026.

Quick question: do you know if your business is on track for the goals you set back in January?

A mid-year financial checkup takes about an hour and looks at five things:
✅ Revenue vs. your plan
✅ Profit margin, not just sales
✅ Cash on hand
✅ Expenses that crept up
✅ Unpaid invoices (A/R)

The best part is that you still have six months to act on what you find.

Happy Independence Day from our family to yours.

Someone is dressed for his very first Fourth of July.

Running a business should give you more freedom, not less. The reason we keep owners' books current is so they get their time back, for cookouts, fireworks, and slow afternoons with the people they love.

However you spend today, we hope it is with the people who matter most. Enjoy the day. The books can wait until Monday.

A question I often ask business owners:

"Could you tell me your profit from last month?"

Some answer immediately. Many aren't sure.

That's the difference between monthly bookkeeping and catch-up accounting.

When your books are current, you know:
✅ Where your cash is going
✅ Whether you're profitable
✅ If you're growing
✅ What decisions need attention

Good bookkeeping doesn't just organize transactions. It gives you confidence.

And confidence is hard to put a price on.

A quick reminder of why we do this.

When your books are current and someone else is handling the monthly work, you get something back that is easy to overlook: time. Time you're not spending sorting receipts at the kitchen table after the kids are down.

This little guy is six months old. I would rather be with him than reconciling accounts at 10 p.m., and the business owners we work with feel the same about their own families. That is the real product here.

Most business owners assume catch-up bookkeeping saves money. In reality, it usually costs more.

When books fall behind:
➡️ Errors compound
➡️ Transactions get harder to identify
➡️ Missing information creates delays
➡️ Tax prep becomes more expensive
➡️ Decisions get made on outdated numbers

Monthly bookkeeping keeps your numbers current — so you're not reconstructing the past months later.

The best bookkeeping isn't the cleanup. It's the bookkeeping that prevents the mess in the first place.

The cheapest bookkeeping is the bookkeeping you never have to clean up.

🚗 Imagine waiting until your engine seizes up before changing the oil. Sounds ridiculous, right?

Yet that’s exactly how many business owners treat their bookkeeping. They wait until:

❌ Tax season
❌ A loan application
❌ A cash flow problem
❌ Their CPA starts asking questions

Monthly bookkeeping isn’t about creating more work. It’s about preventing expensive surprises. When your books are updated every month, you can spot issues early, make better decisions, and spend less time scrambling.

A little maintenance today can save a major repair tomorrow.

A lot of business owners feel unsure when they look at their financial reports. And honestly, that’s normal.

But staying in that place? That’s where problems start. When you understand your numbers, you:

✔ make confident decisions
✔ reduce stress
✔ run your business with clarity

That’s the goal. If your reports feel confusing, it might be time for a better system behind them.
