Scammers are sending out fake Estimated Payment forms in the mail with real IRS instructions, but fake addresses and fake envelopes.

Always pay the IRS using forms and addresses you find on the IRS website. Do not send anything to an address you don't recognize.

If you have an LLC, you must fill out a Beneficial Ownership Report for each LLC you have by 12-31-2024 or you will be fined $595 a day until it reaches $100,000, filing is free, small business owners need to get on this ASAP.

This is quick and easy for the business owner to fill out, so this is not a service we provide.

With the recent massive SSA database breach, it would be wise for everyone to freeze their credit (for free) with all 3 reporting bureaus. You will need to unfreeze it (3x) before you apply for a loan or a credit card, but this will stop anyone from applying for credit under your stolen SSN.

If you find that someone has fraudulently filed a tax return under your SSN or that of a dependent, report it to the IRS immediately using Form 14039. (https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/f14039.pdf)

As we dial things back to begin a new journey for our family, I want to take a moment to thank everyone who has supported our business for the last 10 years.

My wife and business partner, Michelle, will open a private school (Lake Creek Academy) off FM 1488 in August, and will subsequently switch to a 1-2 day/week tax/bookkeeping schedule starting in the Fall. Michelle has been an integral part of our business since the beginning, and since I will not be hiring someone to replace her as a bookkeeper/tax preparer/Sr. Manager/web designer/social media director/admin, we will be scaling back very soon. We are currently only a 2-person operation, which is why this is significant.
