Did you miss Monday's April 18 tax-filing deadline? I will Help you file as soon as possible. Any taxpayer who owes and missed the deadline without requesting an extension should file now to limit penalties and interest. Also, families who don't owe taxes can still file and claim the Child Tax Credit for the 2021 tax year at any point until April 15, 2025, without penalty. This year marks the first time many families with children in Puerto Rico will be eligible to claim the Child Tax Credit.

The tax items for tax year 2022 of greatest interest to most taxpayers include the following dollar amounts:

The standard deduction for married couples filing jointly for tax year 2022 rises to $25,900 up $800 from the prior year.

For single taxpayers and married individuals filing separately, the standard deduction rises to $12,950 for 2022, up $400,

and for heads of households, the standard deduction will be $19,400 for tax year 2022, up $600.

You Might Consider Opting Out Of The Child Tax Credit.
Here's Why
Keep in mind, the Internal Revenue Service is making these payments based on your last tax filing. It's the government's best guess about what your family is due. Half of the tax credit is being paid out now in monthly payments through December. You then claim the rest when you file taxes next year.

But a lot of things can change from year to year.
