Throw Back Thursday: Back in September, 1967, I had the opportunity to pledge Sigma Phi Epsilon. Here I am 55 years later. The cotton jersey has shrunk a lot and so have I so it still fits. Also have my senior hat from the last senior day parade in 1969. The senior parade story remains sealed other than my innocence. Lots of great memories and lifetime friends. GO DAWGS !!!

One of the greatest concerns I have with Social Security is there is no provision to create a legacy for your children after you & your spouse die. The benefits will end even if you are only 2 months in to your monthly checks. If you are not using all of your monthly payments, there is a way to build a legacy for your heirs. Give us a call if you would like more details.

Retiring at the end of 2018 or early in 2019 ? Here's a checklist to keep handy. 1. Decide when to start taking Social Security. 2. Enroll in Medicare parts A & B if you need a supplement. 3. Plan your RMD's if you hit 70 1/2 in 2019. 4. Reduce risk & lock in guaranteed returns. 5. If you have a 401-K plan consider rolling it over. Let us know if we can help.

Traditional pension plans have essentially Gone With The Wind in the 21st century, but that should not keep you from building your own plan. Know your life expectancy, then figure the Social Security payments you expect to receive. Finally, save as much as you can over and above these payments and make sure you won't outlive your income. We can help - give us a call.

Open enrollment for Medicare supplement coverage is underway.Officials have announced that two of the most popular plans, F & G, will be discontinued as of 1/ 1/2020. The high deductible plan F is worth a look. The upfront deductible is more than covered by the rate savings. If you would like more information, give us a call.

A 2018 survey of 2000 adults on the state of America's workforce shows that some 4 of 10 will be working past retirement, some by necessity. 76 % of this group is looking for lifetime income & principal protection and 78 % expect to rely solely on Social Security. If you feel you might have these concerns, give us a call. We can help.

The phrase "When your term is up" not only can apply to politicians, it can also mean the end of your low cost coverage. More often than not, you still need the death protection to cover outstanding obligations.
Usually, there are renewal options, but rates for new coverage have decreased significantly and there are additional benefits that didn't exist 15 - 20 years ago. Check your policy and give us a call if we can help.

Paying for potential long term care expenses is about as much fun as a root canal. You have four options: self insure if you have the cash, Medicaid if you don't, your family if the are capable, or transfer the risk via an insurance product. We can help with item # 4.

This post is way overdue, but it's very relevant to anyone's planning. I continue to be disappointed when someone tells me that they have no will or powers of attorney in place. If you don't have these documents, please take action. I don't write wills, but I know several competent attorneys who do. Give us a call if you would like a referral.
