At this time I am planning on opening up Monday but the City of Crane has not completely cleared Main Street other than one lane in the middle of the street so the parking areas are not cleared yet.

Well I have seen the draft tax forms for the Tip and Overtime deduction for 2025.

The tip deduction should not be any problem for employees who report ALL THEIR CASH AND CHARGE TIPS to their employer for inclusion in their income for tax purposes. Those tip amounts can be accessed from the 2025 W-2 form you will receive from your employer. CASH tips not previously reported to the employer may be reported on Form 4137 at the time the 2025 tax return is prepared and applicable Social Security and Medicare taxes computed and the additional tax reported so those CASH tips can be included in the TIP deduction on the 2025 tax return.

Overtime is a different situation since there is no information about your overtime pay reported on the 2025 W-2 form. What I would suggest for employees who are receive paid overtime is to bring your final paystub (IT SHOULD SHOW YOUR OVERTIME EARNINGS FOR 2025) with your 2025 W-2 form to your tax return preparer to prove the amount of overtime you were paid in the calendar year of 2025. At this time this is the best suggestion I can give to validate the amount of overtime you had for 2025. (We will be asking our tax clients for their end of the year paystub to verify the overtime payment!)

Kaup Bookkeeping will be closed April 17 through April 20 for a short break. We will go back regular hour of Monday to Thursday 9am to noon and 1pm to 5pm when we reopen on April 21 until December 31. Other times will be by appointment only.

An executive Order signed by President Trump will require the Federal Government to stop issuing paper checks for disbursements INCLUDING Income Tax refunds beginning September 30, 2025. This order also requires that all payments to the Federal Government INCLUDING Income Tax payments to be processed electronically. There are very few limitations to this Order except for those individuals without a bank account.

As you have possible seen or heard by now the BOIR required reports for domestic companies has been rescinded and only foreign based companies are required to file this report.
