As many of you know, I’m a sickle cell warrior. I’ve been fighting this disease my entire life. Those who know me personally know that I don’t complain much—I push through, even when my body is tired of fighting.
But the truth is, I’ve been through more than most people will ever see.
Last year alone, I nearly lost my life twice. At one point, I went septic. I missed classes, birthdays, holidays, pre-planned trips, and countless moments because I was hospitalized. Even my graduation—something I worked incredibly hard for—was bittersweet. I walked across that stage with a cane and barely had the strength to enjoy it.
I’m sharing all of this to say: I’m exhausted, and I cannot afford another major setback.
After a lot of prayer, reflection, and hard conversations, I’ve decided to move forward with a stem cell transplant—the same $2 million surgery I talked about a few years ago. The one people always tag me in and call a “cure.” Unfortunately, Medicaid will not cover it, which means the responsibility falls on me.
So when you see me with my hands in a lot of different pots, understand this: I’m working toward a $2 million goal to save my life.
I don’t want to start a GoFundMe or beg anyone for money—but I am asking for support.
