Friendly reminder: once the work is done and the invoice is sent… the payment is due. 😂

Business owners, please stop feeling bad about following up on money you already earned.

✅ Get your payment terms in writing.
✅ Collect deposits when applicable.
✅ Put an actual due date on the invoice.
✅ Follow up when the payment is late.
✅ Stop feeling guilty for asking for money you already earned.

You can be professional, patient, and still expect to be paid on time. You don’t have to be rude or harass anyone.

But you DO need a system.

Paid. In. FULL.

🚨 “NO TAX ON OVERTIME” needs a little explanation.

Because I already know some of y’all heard that phrase and thought your entire overtime check was suddenly tax-free. 😂

Not quite.

There is now a federal deduction for qualified overtime compensation, but generally we’re talking about the overtime PREMIUM — not every dollar you earned while working overtime.

So yes, there can be a tax benefit.

No, you cannot just erase all of your overtime wages from your income.

This is exactly why I keep saying: headlines and tax law are two different things. 😌

I didn’t create CPAngel just to prepare tax returns.

I created CPAngel Collective to help individuals, entrepreneurs, businesses, and nonprofit organizations better understand their finances, remain compliant, make stronger decisions, and build with confidence.

I’m Angel—better known as CPAngel—a licensed CPA, business owner, educator, and the founder of CPAngel Collective.

CPAngel’s Tax Academy is one part of that larger mission. Through the academy, I’m able to teach aspiring and current tax professionals how to prepare returns correctly, understand the tax law behind the software, and build skills they can use to create new opportunities.
