🚨 Don’t Feed the Machine

Your computer freezes. A number appears on the screen. Someone answers, sounds professional, and tells you not to turn it off.

That’s not tech support. That’s a script. And it’s one of countless schemes designed to get your money moving before you think twice.

There are tells. Requests for payment in odd manners like crypto, gift cards, or some strange payment or refund claim. These are all untraceable and no legitimate business would demand payment in such manner.

And if someone is coaching you around the safeguards meant to protect you, that coaching is the flag.

The machine doesn’t care. The person on the phone doesn’t either. So call someone who does.

👉 Remember, if something feels off, it usually is.

❓ Do you have someone in your corner who would spot the flags you might miss?

Let’s continue the conversation.

That charging port at the gate looks harmless.

But is it?

Public WiFi and public USB ports are two of the easiest ways financial accounts get compromised while traveling. A quick login. A balance check. A brokerage app. That is all it takes.

A few habits to pack before heading out:

🛑 Skip public WiFi for anything financial. Use cellular data or a personal hotspot.
🛑 Use credit, not debit. Easier to dispute. Harder to drain.
🛑 Turn on real-time transaction alerts for every card before you leave.
🛑 Watch for skimming devices that attach to gas pumps and ATMs to copy card data.

The best souvenir you can bring home is the financial security you left with. Remember, if something looks off, it probably is.

People tend to notice the shine first. Protection is what makes it last.

Here's a clip from our recent episode of The Show with Chris Cooper and special guests Brian and Heather of Detail 360.

💎 SWN 105 - 07/12/26 | Protected, Inside and Out 💎

Details. Decisions. And Dedication. Here's a few shiny moments from this episode:

• How a trade show demo of a Maserati hood fire can define a moment, and a business.
• The lessons learned about insurance coverage in the face of a fire, a rebuild, and expansion into a brand new location.
• Why "protect your investment" is more than a tagline. It's the philosophy behind every coat they apply. And a pretty good finance philosophy too.
• What it means to turn employees into leaders, and leaders into owners. And what it takes to build a business that protects itself.

July 4, 2026. While America turned 250, a new savings account for children was officially born.

It's called a Trump Account. Or a 530A account. Or my personal favorite, a MAGA account. Money Account for Growth and Advancement.

Whatever you call it, in its most simplistic form it is a traditional IRA for a minor. Funded via irrevocable gifts. Owned completely by the child at 18. No restrictions. No take-backs.

A few key facts families should know:
- Born 2025 through 2028? Your child qualifies for a free $1,000 federal contribution. Four minutes of paperwork. No income requirement.
- Under 18 but born before 2025? You can still open an account. No free $1,000 but everything else still applies.
- Grandparents, parents, family, friends. Everyone can contribute up to $5,000 combined per year.

With great power comes great responsibility. Most 18-year-olds are not short on power, but they may not have the experience of responsibility.

Whether a Trump Account belongs in your family's financial future is a conversation worth having.

💎 Protected, Inside and Out 💎

This week on The Show, we sit down with Brian and Heather of Detail 360. A business born in the smoke of a Maserati hood fire demonstration on ceramic coatings. Forced to rise from the ashes when their own building burned to the ground. And now firing up a second location and showing no signs of slowing down.

🎙️ Join Chris Cooper, Brian, and Heather as they buff out the details behind Detail 360. Entrepreneurship. Overcoming hardship. People and processes. And the lessons learned along the way. From protecting the paint on your toys, to what it takes to protect your business and your assets.

Ceramic coatings shine and protect your toys. Real protection often shows up in the parts of your plan nobody sees until they need them most.

People tend to notice the shine first. Protection is what makes it last.

⚾ Mid-Year Moves at the All-Star Break

All-Star Break. The midpoint of the Major League Baseball season. A time teams stop, look at the standings, and ask an honest question. Are we built to make a run?

The ones who wait until October to figure that out typically end up watching the game from home.

Think of retirement planning this same way. The best plans don’t magically come together at the end. Retirement is the playoffs. The accumulation years are the regular season. And playoff rosters look completely different than April rosters.

Mid-year is when it’s time to think about roster moves. Roth conversions. Investment mix. Income strategy. The window doesn’t stay open forever.

👉 Planning for year-end moves at the midpoint can be the piece that pulls it all together.

❓ Is your plan built for the playoff push?

Let’s continue the conversation.

The alarm clock of a Roth conversion typically starts ringing in December.

But by December choices can be limited. And the sand in the hourglass has nearly run out.

Mid-year is the sweet spot most families never use.

• The bracket picture is clearer than it was in January.
• Six months of runway means scenarios can be modeled, not rushed.
• By aligning on amounts mid-year you can watch market conditions. The same dollars at a lower cost could mean more future tax-free growth.

Should Roth conversions be on your timeline? Find out before time runs out.
