๐ฆโ๏ธ PCS orders in hand?
Don't leave money at your old duty station!
While the rest of the world permanently lost the ability to deduct moving expenses, Uncle Sam kept a special rule just for you. ๐ช๐๏ธ
If you are an active-duty service member undergoing a Permanent Change of Station, your unreimbursed moving costs are STILL tax-deductible.Between packing up, DITY/PPM moves, and driving across the country, out-of-pocket costs add up fast.
Start keeping strict records of:
๐ PCS Mileage: You can claim a standard mileage rate of 20.5 cents per mile for 2026!
๐จ Lodging: Keep receipts for en-route hotels.
๐ฆ Hidden Costs: Lodging on your first night at the new base, moving insurance, utility close out/set up fees, and even pet transportation fees can qualify.
The catch? You can't deduct anything the military already reimbursed you forโbut any gap out of your own pocket is fair game.
Don't wait until next spring to scramble for receipts. Comment "PCS" below or send me a DM, and let's make sure you get every dollar you deserve back on your tax return!
