Even during busy seasons of business, I’ve realized how important it is to make time for connection and community.

I had the chance to attend another women’s networking event last night, and it was such a good reminder of how valuable it is to be surrounded by supportive, driven, and genuinely encouraging people.

So grateful for the conversations, connections, and inspiring women I continue meeting through this group.

Most business owners didn’t start their business because they were passionate about bookkeeping, expense tracking, or financial reports.

They started because they cared deeply about a product, service, skill, or idea.

But somewhere along the way, they suddenly find themselves trying to juggle:
– customer service
– scheduling
– marketing
– emails
– finances
– and everything else happening behind the scenes.

No wonder the financial side can start feeling overwhelming sometimes.

A big part of what I do is helping bring clarity and structure to one piece of that bigger picture so business owners can spend more time focused on the parts of their business they actually enjoy.

One thing I hear from business owners all the time is:
“I just want to feel more organized financially.”

And honestly, most of the time that feeling has less to do with complicated accounting—and more to do with not having consistent systems in place.

The good news is that getting organized usually doesn’t require a complete overhaul. Small habits and simple processes often make a much bigger difference than people expect.

Even implementing just ONE small system like the examples below can make a noticeable difference in how organized and in-control your finances feel:

– Open a dedicated business bank account and keep all business income and expenses separate from personal spending
– Create a simple spreadsheet to track any business expenses that accidentally run through a personal account
– Start saving photos/screenshots of business receipts in one folder or album labeled “Business Receipts”

Once your financial information is clear and current, it becomes much easier to understand what’s happening in your business, make confident decisions, and avoid scrambling at tax time.

With tax season behind us…
What’s one thing you’d like to do 𝐝𝐢𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐥𝐲 when it comes to your business finances this year?

Maybe it’s something simple like staying more organized, reviewing things more regularly, or just feeling more confident in your numbers.

I’d love to hear yours in the comments below. 👇

One small thing that makes a big difference in your bookkeeping:

Consistency.

Even if processes aren’t perfect, keeping things updated regularly makes everything easier—especially when it comes time for taxes or making decisions in your business.

Don't underestimate the stress caused by the slow pile up over time.

✨ Small Business Spotlight ✨

This week I’m featuring Sarah's Specialties —and this one is such a fun (and unique) concept.

Sarah created “The Cookie Stoop,” a self-serve setup stocked with fresh baked goods, cold drinks, and even farm fresh eggs. You can stop by anytime, pick what you’d like, and pay using QR codes or cash.

It’s a low-pressure, honor-system approach… meant to bring a small moment of joy to your day! How magical! 🪄

I asked what inspired her to create it this way, and this really stood out:
“𝐴𝑠 𝑎 𝑑𝑖𝑠𝑎𝑏𝑙𝑒𝑑, 𝑜𝑛𝑒-𝑤𝑜𝑚𝑎𝑛 𝑜𝑝𝑒𝑟𝑎𝑡𝑖𝑜𝑛, 𝐼 ℎ𝑎𝑑 𝑡𝑜 𝑓𝑖𝑛𝑑 𝑎 𝑤𝑎𝑦 𝑡𝑜 𝑘𝑒𝑒𝑝 𝑑𝑜𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑤ℎ𝑎𝑡 𝐼 𝑙𝑜𝑣𝑒 𝑤ℎ𝑖𝑙𝑒 𝑠𝑡𝑖𝑙𝑙 𝑟𝑒𝑠𝑝𝑒𝑐𝑡𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑚𝑦 ℎ𝑒𝑎𝑙𝑡ℎ 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑝ℎ𝑦𝑠𝑖𝑐𝑎𝑙 𝑙𝑖𝑚𝑖𝑡𝑠… 𝑇ℎ𝑒 𝐶𝑜𝑜𝑘𝑖𝑒 𝑆𝑡𝑜𝑜𝑝 𝑙𝑒𝑡𝑠 𝑚𝑒 𝑠ℎ𝑜𝑤 𝑢𝑝 𝑓𝑜𝑟 𝑚𝑦 𝑐𝑜𝑚𝑚𝑢𝑛𝑖𝑡𝑦 𝑖𝑛 𝑎 𝑤𝑎𝑦 𝑡ℎ𝑎𝑡’𝑠 𝑠𝑢𝑠𝑡𝑎𝑖𝑛𝑎𝑏𝑙𝑒.”

I just think that’s such a great example of building a business that truly works for your life, not the other way around.

The Cookie Stoop is now open 𝟐𝟒 𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐬 𝐚 𝐝𝐚𝐲, and even offers options for dietary needs (gluten-free, sugar-free, low carb) on select days. Check out her social pages to see what is available daily—or to place a custom order.

If you’re local and love supporting small businesses (and cookies 🍪), this is definitely one to check out.

One thing I’ve been noticing lately working with business owners:

As a business grows, it's not just the numbers that get bigger. The financial side tends to get more complex too — multiple accounts, different income streams, things layered over time.

It’s usually not that anything is “wrong”… things were just set up at different stages and never fully brought together in a way that makes sense.

Over time, that can make it harder to clearly understand what’s actually going on in the business.

Once everything is cleaned up and organized properly, it’s a completely different experience looking at your numbers.

It goes from feeling unclear or overwhelming → to something you can actually use to make decisions.

It’s always interesting to see how different business owners approach this as they grow.

Are you 1, 2, or 3?

Now that the tax deadline is behind us, most business owners tend to fall into one of a few categories:
1. 𝐂𝐡𝐞𝐜𝐤𝐞𝐝 𝐨𝐮𝐭… and not thinking much about their financials again until next year
2. 𝐀𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐞… realizing things could be cleaned up or better organized to make next year less stressful
3. 𝐈𝐧 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐥… already in the habit of using clear, up-to-date numbers to guide day-to-day decisions

The second group is where so much potential for improvement lives.

Tax season has a way of bringing to light the areas of your business that aren’t always easy to see day to day.

Now is the time to step back, take that insight, and get everything set up properly moving forward.

When your numbers are clear and accurate, it becomes a lot easier to actually use them to guide decisions in your business.

It’s a very different feeling going into the next tax season already organized.

Now that the tax deadline is here, I’m curious how many business owners ended up filing an extension this year.

From the conversations I’ve had recently, it’s more common than people think – especially when things are a little more complex.

Filing an extension isn’t a bad thing – it just means you’re giving yourself the time to get everything done 𝒄𝒐𝒓𝒓𝒆𝒄𝒕𝒍𝒚 instead of rushing through it.

This is usually when a lot of the real clean-up and deeper organization work happens behind the scenes.

If you’re in that position and want to get your books fully cleaned up and organized over the next few months, that’s exactly what I help with.
