The first college offer isn't always the final one.

In Episode 2 of Nine Under Nine, college advisor Eric Simonelli breaks down the financial aid appeal — the one that found real money for Jim Bode family.

There's a separate appeals website you'd never find in the normal process. Schools ask you to upload every other offer you've received. And when the money comes back, there's often just a 24-hour window to lock in the deposit.

The twist: the school required the appeal to come from the student, not the parents.

So it went through the student's email, and it worked.

What the World Cup Taught Our CIO About Investing
