Apparently, we want better roads and better software. We just don’t want anyone doing construction. 😂

Living in Florida, I’m convinced road construction is a permanent season.

There’s always a lane moving, an exit changing, or a detour that makes you question every decision that brought you there.

Is it frustrating? Absolutely.

But we also want smoother roads, better traffic flow, and infrastructure that can handle where we’re headed.

QuickBooks, or any other software, is much the same.

We ask for better features, fewer clicks, more automation, and tools that keep up with our businesses.

Then something moves, and suddenly:
“WHY DID THEY CHANGE IT?”

I get it. When you know exactly where to click and you’re working against a deadline, a new layout can feel like somebody closed your exit without warning.

I’ve been using Intuit products since the early ’90s. I’ve had plenty of “Who moved my cheese?” moments.

But I’m also excited that the tools are still evolving.

Progress comes with some construction. Sometimes we have to learn a different route before we can appreciate where it takes us.

That doesn’t mean every change is perfect. Report the potholes. Give specific feedback. Explain where the new route creates a problem.

That’s how improvements get better.

But give yourself a chance to learn it, too. Explore it. Ask questions. See what it can do before deciding the old road was the only good one.

We can be frustrated by the detour and still be excited about the destination.

Even if we mutter a few things along the way.

Goodbye IRS2Go App!
Hello new IRS app!

Yep. The IRS has officially replaced IRS2Go with its new IRS app.

And before anyone asks…

NO, this isn’t one of those scam apps pretending to be the IRS.

The new official app gives you mobile access to more of your IRS information, including:

• Refund and amended-return status
• Tax balances
• Payments and payment history
• Certain IRS notices and letters
• Tax records and transcripts
• Your Identity Protection PIN (IP PIN)

Already have IRS2Go on your phone?

You don’t necessarily need to download anything new. If automatic updates are turned on, IRS2Go should update to the new IRS app automatically. Otherwise, you can update it through your app store.

⚠️ And because scammers never miss an opportunity…

Don’t click a random text or email telling you to “download the new IRS app.”

Go directly through IRS.gov or your official app store.

I actually like this change.

Anything that gives taxpayers easier access to their own information without having to make the dreaded…

“I guess I need to call the IRS”

Your books have been on summer vacation long enough. 🦆

We’re heading into September, which means there are only FOUR months left in 2026.

And this is usually when business owners start realizing that “I’ll clean up QuickBooks later” has officially become… later.

Before Q4 gets crazy, take a look at your books.

Are the bank accounts reconciled?
Are there transactions sitting in the bank feed from three months ago?
Does Accounts Receivable actually represent money people owe you?
Are payroll and liabilities correct?
Does your Profit & Loss make sense?

Because December is a terrible time to discover something has been wrong since February.
