On September 19, we celebrated six years in business for Lynn Business & Tax Services, LLC! We are still growing and are currently looking for an intern to work with us from January 12 through April 15. This role would be predominantly preparing individual tax returns. Logan could sure use some prayers. He’s not been acting quite right and not had much of an appetite or much energy so I took him to the vet on Saturday morning. They sent me home with some meds and did bloodwork. The results came back yesterday and they were horrible. My vet instructed me to make an appointment with the emergency hospital that he’s been to and had surgery with before. I Ended up taking him in through the emergency room last night. The vet called me this morning and told me they were pretty sure he has cancer in his liver and possibly in his stomach. I went to visit with him this evening and got a chance to meet with the doctor. It’s not promising and they can’t do a biopsy of any sort without removing the tumor from his liver. The vet doesn’t think surgery is a good option for him because it would be very rough on him. i’m just anxious to get him home and we’re going to try to get him as well as possible given the situation but it seems the vet wants to just let the cancer play out instead of trying to do surgery or anything else. I’m definitely not ready for that, but I also don’t want him suffering. So the plan right now is for me to bring him home hopefully tomorrow or the next day and then I will take him back in a month so they can do another ultrasound and see how the tumors have changed. I knew this day would come, but I was really praying I had more time. He’s pulled through some rough things before so I’m still praying that that could happen this time as well. Any prayers for him would be much appreciated.

In case you haven’t heard, the IRS is not opening up e-filing for 2023 tax returns until January 29. They are boasting that although filing season is getting started late, things will be much smoother than last year! I will believe it when I see it!

In case you small business owners and side gig folks haven’t heard the good news, the Ohio Commercial Activity Tax (CAT) is changing as of 2024. As a result of these changes, a lot of small businesses will no longer need to file the return and should file a final return for 2023 and apply to close your accounts out. Feel free to reach out to us if you need any help or have questions about the new rules.

If you feel like this man, reach out to us! Tax and accounting can be very stressful and we are here to help. We are currently taking on new individual and business clients for tax and accounting. We are also finishing up the implementation of a new Client Management System called Canopy. Most clients have already received invites for a client portal which will allow smoother communication and document flow. Canopy also provides an app that you can load on your smartphone and send your tax documents directly from your phone. Of course if you like communicating the old fashion way through email and text messages or even paper, that is still an option!

Tax time is here! Let the fun begin! One important item to note, please make sure you keep the letter received from the IRS regarding the amount of advanced child tax credit you received. Whether you prepare your return or have someone else do it, you will need that piece of paper. Also, there still are some Covid relief provisions that are available in tax year 2021. Please feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns about your filings!
