Checking your bank account is not the same as understanding your cash flow.

One tells you the present. The other tells you the future, which is the part that actually lets you plan.

For seasonal businesses especially, the summer months are exactly when a forecast earns its keep.
It is one of the most useful things a financial partner can build with you, and most business owners have never had one.

Owner pay is one of the most common things small business owners get wrong, and it is rarely because they are careless.

It is because no one ever gave them a framework.

Pay yourself too little, and you subsidize the business out of your own pocket.
Pay yourself too much, and you starve it of the cash it needs to operate.

The right number depends on your entity type, your cash flow, your tax situation, and your goals.
It is a real calculation, not a gut call. Getting it right changes both how your business runs and how much you keep.

Not sure your owner pay is set up right? Let us take a look together: www.optixaccounting.com

Most business owners have seen these three reports and have never been shown how to actually read them.

That is not a knowledge gap to feel bad about. It is just something no one ever walked you through.

Each report answers a different question, and together they tell you almost everything you need to know about the health of your business. Learning to read them is one of the highest-return skills an owner can build.

By July, most business owners have a rough sense of how the year is going.

Revenue is tracking somewhere. Expenses feel about right. But a rough sense is not a plan for the back half of the year.

The businesses that finish strong in December are rarely the ones that wait until December to look. They are the ones who use the quieter summer months to forecast, adjust, and decide.

The second half of the year rewards businesses that treat it like a starting line instead of a countdown.

Let us help you build the plan for the back half of your year. www.optixaccounting.com

The gap between Q2 and Q3 is one of the most underutilized moments in the business calendar.

Things have slowed down enough to think clearly, but there is still enough time left in the year to actually change the outcome.

These five things take less time than you think, and all of them matter.

Want to do this as a conversation instead of a checklist?

Think of it as adding a layer. Your accountant keeps your books clean, your filings accurate, and your compliance handled.

A fractional CFO looks at that same financial data and asks different questions:
- What does this mean for how we price?
- Should we restructure how we pay ourselves?
- What does Q4 actually look like if we hire in August?

The work underneath does not change. What changes is what you do with it.

For businesses in a growth phase, that forward-looking layer is often what separates intentional scaling from expensive guessing.

Wondering whether fractional CFO support makes sense for where your business is right now?

Most business owners do not outgrow their accounting setup all at once.

It happens gradually, and by the time it becomes obvious, there is usually a backlog of decisions that got made without the right information.

If any of these slides feel familiar, that is worth paying attention to.

Wondering if your accounting is keeping up?

Growth solves a lot of problems. But it does not solve a leaky bucket. Businesses that scale without financial clarity tend to scale their problems right along with their revenue: more income, more confusion, more decisions made on incomplete information.

Before you push harder on growth, it is worth knowing whether your current financial infrastructure can support it. Clean books, clear margins, and a reliable monthly picture of your business are the foundation that makes everything else compound.

If you do not have that yet, it is a straightforward place to start.

Let us build that foundation with you. Book a consult at www.optixaccounting.com

When a new client comes to OPTIX, the first conversation is rarely about taxes.

It is about what the books actually show and whether they reflect reality. Most of the time, there are a few things to clean up. That is normal. What matters is getting a clear picture as quickly as possible so we can start making it work for the business.

Not sure what your books actually say about your business? Let’s find out together.

These three numbers can all look completely different inside the same business at the same time.

Revenue is what you billed.
Profit is what is left after expenses.
Cash is what is actually in your account.

A business can be profitable and still run out of cash. It happens more often than most people expect, and it almost always comes as a surprise to owners who are only watching the top line.

Understanding the differences among these three numbers and tracking them regularly is one of the most important things a business owner can do. If your financials are not showing you all three with clarity, that is worth fixing.

Let us show you what your numbers actually look like
