Please be patient with your tax preparer over the next few days.

Everyone is receiving tax documents right now, and information is being submitted all day long. Think of it like a virtual line, the same way people line up for Jordans.

On top of that:

Many clients are requesting cash advances, which requires additional steps

We have to call clients and ask follow-up questions

Most returns are not completed on the first try because additional documents are needed

Returns have to be prepared, reviewed, submitted, and paperwork completed for e-filing

And for offices like mine, we also have in-house clients coming in throughout the day

There’s a lot happening behind the scenes to make sure your return is done accurately and correctly.

We appreciate your patience while we work through the process and take care of everyone properly.

Let’s talk about FEES because a lot of people don’t understand how this works. 🔑

There is a preparer fee — that pays the person actually preparing your return.

Then there are bank fees — charged by the bank that processes your refund if you choose that option.

If your preparer is under a company, there may be a Service Bureau fee.

There’s also a transmitter fee — that’s for securely sending your tax return to the IRS.

Add in e-file fees for submitting your return electronically.

And yes, sometimes document fees — pulling transcripts, verifying info, extra paperwork, etc.

All of these fees are separate.
None of them are random.
And they don’t all go to the preparer.

So before comparing prices or saying “taxes shouldn’t cost that much,” be mindful of that you’re actually paying for: Quality, compliance, professional services, and protection!!
