Retirement is often pictured as one long vacation. More time to travel, relax, golf, visit family, and finally get to the things you've been putting off.

But retirement isn't just about the big moments. It's also about an ordinary Monday morning.

Where do you want to live? How do you want to spend your time? What will your regular expenses look like? How often do you want to travel? Will you continue working in some capacity?

Those everyday details can have just as much impact on your retirement as the bigger plans.

Retirement is about more than the big moments. It's about building a life you enjoy every day of the week.

Taking one last trip before summer ends?

Before you finish packing, there are a few financial details worth checking off your list.

Whether you're heading overseas or staying closer to home, a little preparation can help you avoid unnecessary fees and surprises while you're away.

A few things to consider:

- Check your credit cards. If you're traveling internationally, know whether your card charges foreign transaction fees and which cards you plan to use while you're away.

- Know your ATM options. ATM fees and currency conversion costs can add up quickly. Check what your bank charges before you need cash.

- Make sure you can access your accounts. If you use two factor authentication, confirm you'll be able to receive verification codes while traveling.

- Review your account alerts and contact information. Make sure your bank and credit card companies have a way to reach you if they notice unusual activity.

- Leave some room in the budget. Transportation, meals, tips, activities, and last minute changes can easily push a trip beyond the original budget.

The itinerary gets you there.

A little financial preparation can help make the trip easier once you arrive.

Every new school year marks the beginning of another chapter.

While you're focused on the year ahead, it's also worth taking a moment to think about the years beyond.

A 529 education savings plan can help families save for qualified education expenses while giving investments the opportunity to grow over time. Starting early can provide more flexibility down the road, but it's never too late to begin.

The first day of school may only last a day, but the plans you make today can have an impact for years to come.

Becoming a millionaire isn't usually the result of one big financial decision.

More often, it's the result of thousands of small, disciplined choices made consistently over time.

We spend a lot of time preparing for retirement, but have you prepared for the unexpected?

If you were suddenly unable to make financial decisions, would the people you trust know your wishes? More importantly, would they have the legal authority to act on your behalf?

A Financial Power of Attorney is one of the most important estate planning documents you can have, yet it's often overlooked until it's needed.

Taking the time to have these conversations today can help make tomorrow a little easier for the people you care about most.

Myth or Reality?

One of the biggest misconceptions we hear is that you need a specific dollar amount saved before you can retire comfortably.

The reality is that retirement is about much more than reaching a magic number.

A successful retirement depends on having a strategy that considers:

- Creating reliable income

- Managing taxes

- Planning for healthcare expenses

- Developing a sustainable spending plan

Two people with the same retirement savings can have very different outcomes depending on how those assets are managed and distributed.

Retirement planning isn't just about how much you've saved. It's about having a plan that helps you make the most of what you've worked so hard to build.
