Everyone, let's get to know Betsy Hagen, one of our brightest Financial Planning Specialists at Confetti Wealth! Betsy has been part of the Confetti Wealth team for over a decade and has earned a reputation as one of our go-to problem solvers. Her dedication, expertise, and willingness to help others make her an invaluable member of our team. Outside of work, Betsy loves the outdoors, including rock climbing, hiking, camping, and exploring. Yosemite is her favorite national park so far, and visiting all of them is on her bucket list.

❓What is your favorite hobby? "My favorite hobby is best described as adventuring: rock climbing, hiking, backpacking. Racing to finish a trail before sunset, taking a cold plunge, building survival skills, pushing my limits. There’s something freeing about leaving behind the comforts and routines of home and realizing how little you actually need to have an incredible time."
❓What was your first job? "My first job was at Burger King, making a whopping $6.50 an hour. I had a coworker who would stare at the clock for a bit, do the mental math, and proudly announce, “I just made 3 cents” (for clarity, that took about 17 seconds). Maybe he planted the seed for my career in finance."
❓If you could eliminate one common financial myth, what would it be? "I think there’s a misconception that getting ahead financially requires some big break - seeing huge returns, picking the right stock, earning $500,000/year, etc. Most wealth is built much less dramatically - consistently saving, investing, and giving compounding growth enough time to work."
❓ What’s one book, podcast, or resource that changed how you think about money? "Hidden Brain’s “Money 2.0: Why We Bust Our Budgets”. One idea that really stuck with me was the disconnect between how we think we spend our money, or how we want to spend it, and where it actually goes. We tend to overlook irregular expenses and justify one-off purchases as exceptions, even though those “exceptions” happen all the time. It reinforces that looking at your actual spending patterns can tell you a lot more about your financial behavior and priorities than an idealized budget can."
❓If you had unlimited funds to start a business, what kind of business would you launch? "I’d create a truly flexible, on-demand childcare service where parents could drop their kids off for a few hours without a regular schedule or advance commitment. Sometimes you unexpectedly need a few hours of childcare and there should be a safe, reliable option for that."
âť“What do you enjoy most about working in finance? "I like the problem-solving aspect. Personal finance rarely has one universally right answer. You have to understand all the moving pieces and figure out what makes the most sense for that particular person/family. I enjoy taking something complicated and turning it into a clear, actionable plan."
