Closing out August with a grateful heart. 💐💙

It’s been a full month at Accounting Breeze — new conversations, new opportunities, tax planning, business advisory, and plenty of preparation as we head toward the September 15 business tax deadline.

What I’m most grateful for is the continued trust of our clients. Every referral, review, conversation, and opportunity to help someone make a better financial or business decision means so much to me.

Degrees give you knowledge. Clients give you perspective.

Twelve years after earning my Pepperdine MBA, I understand that sentence much differently than I would have on graduation day.

Education gave me an important foundation. But years of sitting across from business owners — listening to their questions, understanding their businesses, working through challenges and helping them make difficult decisions — taught me things no textbook ever could.

Every client has added something to my education.

And maybe that’s one of the best things about doing this work for so many years: you never really finish learning.

12 years ago this month, I earned my MBA from Pepperdine University. 🎓

At the time, earning that degree represented a major personal milestone. Looking back now, I realize it was really another beginning.

The classroom gave me knowledge, discipline and a stronger understanding of business. The 12 years since have given me something equally valuable: the opportunity to apply that education to real businesses, real financial decisions and real people.

Today, I use that foundation when helping business owners with tax strategy, financial decisions, growth and some of the biggest decisions they make in their businesses.

I’m grateful for where I started, proud of how much I’ve learned since, and very excited about where this next chapter is taking me. 💙

By the time a tax return is being prepared, many of the decisions that could have affected the outcome have already been made.

One of the best parts of my week wasn’t preparing a tax return. It was listening.

I met with a business owner this week who reminded me why the relationship between a client and their tax professional matters so much.

Business owners don’t just need someone who can prepare the forms.

They need someone who takes the time to understand their business, asks the right questions, explains what’s happening, and helps them plan for what’s ahead.

Sometimes the biggest opportunities come from conversations: understanding why you owed more than expected, what could have been planned differently, and what we can do now so there are fewer surprises later.

That’s the part of this work I love.
