Businesses and individuals alike, please BEWARE!!! There are some really good phone scammers out there convincing people to give them their banking information. They pretend they are from your bank. Don’t talk to them or give them ANY INFORMATION!!!! Hang up and call your bank immediately! If it is your bank needing information, then you can talk to them and give them what they need…better safe than broke. This has happened to several businesses locally and emptied their bank accounts, so PLEASE be diligent ❤️

PSA:

If you opted to receive a paper check refund from IRS this year, they are sending out letters notifying taxpayers that their direct deposit account had issues and it will be 30 days before their refund will be issued and mailed out. Just to be clear, there is nothing wrong with your return and they are doing this to prove a point that they are holding your return because they no longer want to issue paper checks. They want everyone to start doing direct deposit refunds. So don’t panic, this is their way of telling you they are going to punish you for not doing direct deposit. Also, just an FYI, they will no longer be issuing paper checks in 3 years for refunds…EVERYONE will be required to do direct deposit. This was related to tax preparers this year in tax school, so be ready for that, folks.

TOP 10 THINGS GUARANTEED TO MAKE YOUR TAX PREP FEES HIGHER

1) NOT UPLOADING SCANNED PDF COPIES OF TAX DOCUMENTS TO ACCOUNTANTS’ ONLINE PORTAL

2) BRINGING IN ALL YOUR DOCUMENTS IN UNOPENED ENVELOPES

3) BRINGING IN ALL YOUR DOCUMENTS IN UNOPENED ENVELOPES AND WANTING TO OPEN AND EXPLAIN EACH ONE WHILE MEETING WITH THE ACCOUNTANT.

4) OPENING YOUR MAIL, THEN PUTTING DOCUMENTS BACK IN THE ENVELOPE AND WRITING NOTES ON THE ENVELOPE

5) LABELING EACH PIECE OF PAPER WITH A POST-IT

6) SENDING AN EMAIL EVERY TIME YOU RECEIVE A TAX DOCUMENT.

7) EMAILING PIC FILES EMBEDED IN THE BODY OF YOUR EMAIL
