The Benefit of Cascading Goals
Most companies have a strategy. Almost none have a way to hand it to a 22-year-old on their first week and have it make sense.
That's what cascading goals fix. Company goal breaks into department goals. Department goals break into team goals. Team goals break into something an individual can actually do today. Every layer traces back to the one above it.
Real example: "90% customer satisfaction" becomes "resolve 95% of tickets in 24 hours," becomes "cut response time to 2 hours," becomes one rep's daily ticket count.
The payoff isn't soft. Employees who help set their own goals are 14.2x more inspired than employees who are just handed a number. One company that aligned teams this way resolved cross-team bottlenecks 40% faster and cut service costs in half within 18 months.
Building this doesn't require a massive rollout. Start at the top with one clear, measurable company goal, then ask each department head to answer one question: "what does this mean for us this quarter?" Push that same question down one level at a time. The structure builds itself as long as every layer is required to answer to the one above it, instead of setting goals in isolation.
People don't work harder because you push. They work harder because they can see where it goes.
If your team can't trace their daily work back to your company goal, that's a structure problem, not a people problem. HR Collaboration Group builds the cascade for you, one level at a time. Let's start with your first goal.
