Let’s get your books organized and your time back! Running a business is hard work, and keeping the books organized shouldn’t add to the stress. I help construction and excavation companies get clear project and equipment costs, and I support nonprofits with clean, dependable bookkeeping. My goal is to give you clarity and confidence in your numbers, so you can focus on your work, your team, and your mission. If you’re ready for a bookkeeping system that actually supports your business, I’d love to help.

If you've ever tried to keep the books for a nonprofit, you know it's a different beast. 😅

It's not just numbers — it's grant money that has to go to the right place, a board that needs answers, and every dollar mattering because it's someone's mission on the line.

Honestly? This is my favorite kind of bookkeeping to do. There's something really satisfying about taking a messy, stressful setup and turning it into something clean and simple — where the board can actually see what's going on, and the person doing the books isn't losing sleep over it.

I shared a few of my go-to QBO tricks in this week's post (including a great way to save money on your subscription 💰). If you're the person quietly holding your nonprofit's books together, this one's for you. 👇

For a non-profit organization, clean numbers are a true lifeline. The board needs to understand where the money is going, grantors need transparency, and every dollar saved is a dollar that goes back into the community. That’s why I love working with NPOs—and why I’m so passionate about gettin...

Ever had a great sales month… but your bank account didn't feel it? 😅

You land the big contract. The crew's on site. Invoices go out. But cash still feels tight.

Here's why: your overall P&L can look totally healthy — while quietly hiding a job or two that's losing money. Two good projects can end up paying for three bad ones, and you'd never know just from your bottom line.

The fix? Knowing your numbers job by job, not just company-wide.

I break it all down in this week's post — including how to set it up right in QuickBooks Online. If "we're busy" doesn't always mean "we're profitable" for you, give it a read. 👇

Winning a $1 million contract feels like a massive victory. But if your bank account is shrinking even while sales are booming, you’re not alone. In construction, excavation, and project-based industries, high revenue does not always mean high profits.

Do I have enough in the bank?" is a question that keeps too many business owners up at night. 🌙

Stop guessing and start calculating. My new article explains the difference between Gross Burn and Net Burn, and why knowing your "Runway" is the ultimate stress-reliever for your business.

Take control of your cash flow here:

Imagine your business bank account is a water tank. To keep your business running, water has to flow out of that tank every month to cover costs like rent, software, and your team.

I’ve been deep in the books lately, but I wanted to drop a quick "tip for today" for my business owner friends.🙂

I see many people stressed because their bank balance appears low, even though they had a strong month of sales. Usually, the answer isn’t "make more money"—it’s a simple math problem called the Current Ratio.

The 30-second health check:
Take your Current Assets (Cash + what customers owe you) and divide it by your Current Liabilities (the bills and debt you owe right now).

If you get 2.0: You’re in a great spot. You have a $2 cushion for every $1 you owe.

If you get 1.0 or less: Things are tight. This is usually a sign that your cash is "stuck" in unpaid invoices or sitting in inventory.

It’s such a simple check, but it takes the mystery out of why the bank account feels empty. Hope this helps someone breathe a little easier today!

Christmas is a season of preparation — not just outwardly, but inwardly too.

Many business owners quietly carry stress about their books into the new year.

I believe clarity brings peace. When things are brought into order, the weight lifts.

• clean up transactions
• reconcile accounts
• close the year intentionally

Are you still giving a box of receipts to your accountants?
You know that is big mistake business owners make. It is possible that you are paying more taxes than you have to.
Many business expenses are tax deductible!! Period.
Those should not be counted as the owner's withdrawal.
So keep the receipts and start categorizing each item and reconcile them against your business bank account. Then, the income statement should be available to you, which will be necessary if you want to file taxes correctly on time.
This will take time, but it is worth it to keep your business running in the future. Successful businesses always know the importance of bookkeeping.
If you use an outsourcing bookkeeping service, you will save a significant amount of money AND time. Make sure to include it in your business plan as you go because it is a necessary step to building a solid and successful business.
