According to the Budget Lab at Yale, 2.5% of all workers—from waitstaff to bartenders to cabbies and more— roughly 4 million, receive tips in their occupations.

Considering the shear number of those receiving tips, we thought it would be helpful to share some of the provisions in the One Big Beautiful Bill Act.

U.S. Gold Reserves
Just over half of the Treasury’s stored gold is kept in deep storage at Fort Knox, KY followed by the West Point Mint in New York, Denver Mint, and a small portion at the New York Federal Reserve Bank. The facilities are heavily guarded, and Ft. Knox has allowed visitors only three times.

Consider adding other ways to store gold personally: safety deposit boxes, private vaults or at home safes. An alternative to physically securing it is the considerations for investing in Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs) or Mutual Funds in Gold and Gold Mining.

Wisdom Wednesday.
It was not until 1974, with the passage of the Equal Credit Opportunity Act, that women obtained the financial freedom to obtain credit cards separate from their husbands or a co-signer. The idea of single women being unable to obtain credit while earning their own income was ridiculously absurd! It also meant women who stayed home with children, or were divorced or widowed had no ability to establish credit. Having your own credit is crucial, and the Equal Credit Opportunity Act was a necessary step towards correction.
In 1981 Liberty Financial Group was founded by Tom Wargin & June Schroeder with the recognition that women still had difficulty being acknowledged in the financial world, as well as had different demands than men, but certainly didn’t require “handholding.” June & Tom resolved to being financial planners for not only men, but also, quite specifically for women too. Recognizing that individuals have different levels of financial knowledge & comfort, they sought to establish authentic, individual relationships with each client. As the number of women who had ownership & control of their own finances grew, so did their female client-base. As did their staff-which meant more female employees. One of those employees was Shannon Nook and Liberty Financial Group continues to be woman-owned today, with Shannon as the sole owner. And we continue to take great pride in the strength and knowledge of our female clients and staff.

SCAMMERS PLAY ON FEARS & VULNERABILITIES.
Tax-time requires extra vigilance.
While we should always be mindful of scams, identity theft and phishing attempts increase in frequency and strategy this time of year. (Phishing is a tactic used to get people to reveal confidential information by pretending to be a person or company you know and trust.)
Pretending to be the IRS or financial institutions stating problems or items of concern, while conveying urgency, they are able to play on people’s fears and vulnerabilities. The “urgency” attempts to limit our opportunity to think-it-through or seek assistance. They create fear by telling us these problems will just get bigger, or they threaten legal action.
Also, an email scam could include a link that, when opened, installs malware or spyware into our computer, that can then access all files and personal data.
Safety Tips:
1) LINKS – be absolutely sure any links you click on come from trusted sources.
2) CONFIRM-make sure the sender’s name & email address are correct. Look for small changes-like just one letter difference, spelling errors, having a different ending (.gov, .com, .net).
3) Use the internet to VERIFY names, phone numbers, addresses, and company logos before corresponding. Even those that appear to be on official letterhead!
