Have you received a letter from the IRS about missing or invalid bank information (often called CP53E or similar)?

• Your refund may be on hold because your bank info was missing, incorrect, or rejected
• The IRS may request you to add or update your banking information online
• 📬 If you don’t update your info, a paper check will be mailed about 6 weeks after the notice date

Scammers are sending fake versions of these letters trying to steal your personal and banking information!
🔍 Watch for these red flags:
❌ Links, QR codes, or directions to non-IRS websites
❌ Requests for info by email, text, or phone
❌ Payment requests using gift cards or unusual methods
✅ How to protect yourself:
✔️ Always go directly to IRS.gov (type it yourself—don’t click links)
✔️ Verify any notice before responding
