The IRS is making one thing very clear: tax preparation is serious business.

There is increased emphasis on due diligence, documentation, data security, accuracy, and preparer responsibility. When a tax professional signs a return and uses their PTIN, their name is attached to that work.

That matters.

It also does not mean tax professionals never make mistakes. We are human, and tax law can be incredibly complex.

The important part is how mistakes are handled.

Most errors can be corrected. Returns can be amended. Notices can be responded to. Issues can be researched and fixed. What matters is taking responsibility, addressing the problem, and making sure it is handled correctly.

That is also why I ask questions, request documentation, research things I’m unsure about, and double-check returns before they go out.

The goal is never perfection at all costs.

The goal is accuracy, due diligence, accountability, and doing the right thing when something needs to be corrected.

The IRS is serious about tax compliance and preparer responsibility — and I am too.

And if something ever does need to be fixed, we fix it.

I’m working through a complex partnership return involving 15 K-1s and five foreign partners—all while QuickBooks is only partially cooperating. 😅

The complicated returns require patience, attention to detail, and plenty of coffee—but I genuinely enjoy putting all the pieces together and making sure everything is handled correctly.

The fall tax deadlines are coming up quickly! ⏰

September 15 is the extended filing deadline for partnerships and S corporations, and October 15 is the extended deadline for individual tax returns.

If you filed an extension, now is the time to make sure your return is moving—not the week before the deadline.

I’m currently helping individuals and business owners complete extended returns, clean up their financials, and get everything ready for filing.
