Good news for your grocery bill - starting today, Alabama’s 60-day break on the 2% state sales tax for groceries is officially underway, thanks to legislation signed by Governor Ivey last month. Local and county taxes still apply, but every little bit helps!

Big update for nonprofits: Last week, the Treasury Department announced that the IRS has plans to revise the Form 990. The focus of these updates will be increased transparency and clearer reporting on government grants, government contracts, and fiscal sponsorship arrangements.

Last week, Governor Kay Ivey signed a new tax relief bill creating two savings opportunities for Alabamians: a state income tax deduction of up to $1,000 on overtime pay through 2028, and a 60-day elimination of the 2% state grocery tax this summer. Read more on our blog.

Today, we’re saying goodbye to our spring interns. They are a talented group of individuals who helped make this busy season a success. Although we will miss them, we know they are headed toward amazing things! We celebrated them in the best way we knew how - with networking and bagels from Kind Cafe Fairhope!
