The knows you work hard for your and your employees. But be careful with the Employee Retention Credit (ERC) . This is a refundable tax credit for businesses who continued paying employees while shut down due to the pandemic or who had significant declines in gross receipts. Carefully review ERC guidelines before claiming the credit. Business should watch out for scams or being duped by ERC aggressive marketing.

Employee retension credit (ERC) is the latest item in a long list of topics that are being scammed. Do not sign up for any services saying they will get you large refunds on missed credits. Be smart and aware, protect your business! I have received a newsletter from a national speaker warning of this type of activity. A copy of this can be sent to you by contacting my office.

If you don’t need the money to put food on the table, opt out! At the end of the year, if you don’t qualify due to income changes, you will owe the money you received in advance back to IRS. Be aware my friends!

Some families may prefer to wait until the end of the year and receive the entire Child Tax Credit instead of receiving advance payments. There is an IRS tool that lets them do just that: https://go.usa.gov/x6y6s
