The Funny Financial Advisor I serve as a Wealth Advisor at Stephens Wealth Management Group (SWMG).

I started my career as a Client Relationship Associate at SWMG, and then put my CPA to work at a few different organizations, including the IRS. I’ve been back with SWMG for more than 6 years and find purpose helping young professionals and those nearing or in retirement to develop and carryout a financial plan that supports their interests and goals. I have also developed a niche / passion for wo

rking with women in retirement. I help clients with their financial everything, from how to choose their 401(k) investments, to retirement and college planning, to saving and investing. I try not to use financial jargon and enjoy building strong relationships so that clients understand everything that's happening and feel like they have their financial life together. A strong believer in giving back, I feel it is important to volunteer my time. I am a member of the board of directors, as well as the Investment Committee Chair, for the YWCA of Greater Flint. I am also a board member of the Flint Women’s Forum, and a volunteer financial planner for cancer patients with the Family Reach program.

I recently had the pleasure of speaking with a wonderful group of 20 women about money—the questions we have, the decisions we face, and the importance of feeling confident in our financial lives. Thank you to Women2Women Michigan for having me at their Girlfriend Gathering!

We discussed everything from planning for the future to making informed choices today. What made the event especially meaningful was the openness in the room. Money can feel personal or intimidating, but asking questions and starting honest conversations are powerful first steps toward financial confidence.

I’m grateful to everyone who joined, shared, and helped create such an encouraging environment. Here’s to more women feeling informed, empowered, and confident about their financial futures!

What an amazing lunch for Women's Equality Day! The Flint & Genesee Group's Women in Action employee resource group and Women's Leadership Committee always put on SUCH a great event. They had great speakers and I was so pleased to see and talk to so many of my friends in the community who are doing such good work. There's nothing like a room full of amazing women and although there is work yet to be done in terms of equality and equity, it felt good to be an accomplice to what has already been done.

Look how gorgeous these ladies are with our fabulous "YWCA persimmon" colors. Proud to have served on the YWCA board. This is my last year (of 6!) and I will miss them but I still plan to hang around because the YWCA does fantastic work. Check out their annual report here:

Yesterday I attended the Flint & Genesee Chamber's Women's Leadership Committee lunch, where Julie from FRYE Music Camp spoke about this INCREDIBLY cool camp, where kids aged 10-16 get to attend for free, and learn an instrument, form a band, write a song, and perform. You should definitely check it out.
