Burch Oxner Seale Co., CPA's Burch Oxner Seale Co., CPA’s , PA is a full-service accounting and consulting firm that has served the P*e Dee region of South Carolina for over 50 years.

Raymon R. Finch & Company founded the firm as a branch of its Columbia, South Carolina office in 1963. In 1964, Edwin L. Oxner joined that firm as the second member of its Florence professional staff and became a partner in 1968. During the years of 1968-1985 the firm merged and changed names several times. Its successive names were: Finch Kight & Jackson; Ernst & Ernst; Yochum Oxner & Co.; and Fi

nch Hamilton Oxner & Co. On January 1, 1986, the firm became Burch Oxner Seale Co. Roy F. Burch, Jr., joined the Ernst & Ernst professional staff in 1973. Fred R. Seale became a member of the Yochum Oxner & Co. professional staff in 1978. Edwin L. Oxner, Roy F. Burch, Jr., and Fred R. Seale were the initial shareholders of Burch Oxner Seale Co., CPA's, PA, and have all since retired from the firm. Donald E. Oxner joined the Finch Hamilton Oxner & Co. professional staff in 1982. He became a shareholder in Burch Oxner Seale Co. on May 1, 1988, and retired on April 30, 2023. Tracy S. Huggins joined the Burch Oxner Seale Co. professional staff in 1992 and became a shareholder on May 1, 2000. Alison M. Benson joined the Burch Oxner Seale Co. professional staff in 2000 and became a shareholder on July 1, 2014. James M. Sheehy joined the Burch Oxner Seale Co. professional staff in 1998 and became a shareholder on July 1, 2017. Since its inception in 1963, Burch Oxner Seale Co. has grown from one CPA and one assistant to its present size of more than twenty employees. Our growth has been planned carefully and is expected to continue at a controlled rate.

This is what investing in our teammates looks like.

The Get Fit with BOSCO challenge may have been built around movement, but it became so much more than that. It gave us a reason to show up for each other, spend time together outside of our normal routines, build relationships with people we may not always work alongside, and cheer each other on along the way.

The miles, workouts, meetups, fitness bubbles and friendly competition were great. But the best part was the people.

Because culture isn’t something you can put on a calendar or create with a slogan. It’s built in the moments when we choose to show up for one another. It’s built when teammates encourage each other, leaders participate alongside their teams, and coworkers become people you genuinely know, enjoy and care about.

We spend a lot of our lives at work. We should make that time count.

Thank you to everyone who showed up, participated, encouraged, competed, laughed, sweated and made this challenge what it was.

These pictures are a pretty good reminder that when we invest in our people, we get so much more back than a healthier team.

LEADING FROM THE FRONT. 💪

Alison and Tracy didn’t just lead this challenge—they set the tone for it.

As partners of the firm and team leaders, they showed their teams what it looks like to fully show up. They came to the meetups. They stayed for the socials. They ran the miles, put in the time, and earned those fitness bubbles right alongside everyone else.

They didn’t ask their teams to do anything they weren’t willing to do themselves.
That’s leadership. Not just giving direction, but leading by example.

Thank you, Alison and Tracy, for making this challenge about more than points and competition—and for showing our teams what it looks like to show up, get involved, and have a little fun along the way!

The Unintentional Showdown 🏆

In typical BOS challenge history, Tracy and Stephanie somehow managed to compete against each other without either one realizing it.

After all the points were tallied, they landed in a tie for 3rd place… with the exact same number of points!

The best part? They had absolutely no idea they were even competing for the same spot.

This year, we challenged our team to CONNECT in a different way. 🤝

Through out Connect35 activity, teammates were encouraged to learn something from a different department, spend time with someone they may not typically work with and build connections beyond their usual circles.

It’s easy to stick with the people we work with every day, but some of the best connections happen when we step outside of what’s familiar.

One of the best things about being a small firm is that we’re more than coworkers. We know each other, support each other, celebrate each other and, every now and then, challenge each other to get a little healthier along the way.

Our Get Fit with BOSCO Wellness Challenge was about more than steps, workouts and friendly competition. It was about investing in our people and creating opportunities to connect outside of our everyday work.

Because culture isn’t just something you talk about. It’s something you build together. And we’re pretty proud of the people who make BOSCO feel like more than just a workplace.
