Let's talk about the new Vehicle Loan Interest Deduction..

Beginning with the 2025 tax year, a new federal tax deduction allows eligible taxpayers to deduct up to $10,000 of interest paid on a qualifying new car loan, key word: qualifying.

This is where the rubber meeting the proverbial road...

To claim the deduction, both the taxpayer and the vehicle must meet the following:

1. New Vehicle Only, you HAVE to be the original owner (Meaning a 2025 and up Vehicle - sorry classic car dudes).
2. Used vehicles and leases do not qualify
3. Final Assembly in the U.S. - not overseas.
4. Personal Use Only (Can't be registered to your Montana LLC)
5. Eligible Vehicle Types (Cars, Minivans, Vans, SUV's, Pickups, Motorcycles) - they have to weigh under 14k lbs.

The deduction phases out at the below:
Single Filers
Phaseout begins at $100,000 MAGI
Fully eliminated at $150,000 MAGI

Married Filing Jointly
Phaseout begins at $200,000 MAGI
Fully eliminated at $250,000 MAGI
