The corner of Meadowbrook Boulevard and Eastchase Parkway just got a whole lot more fun and whimsical!

Fort Worth Public Art recently unveiled Eastchase Island in far east Fort Worth's Council District 5.

This playful upgrade turns a regular traffic median into something magical—think oversized mushrooms, a larger-than-life snail, wandering ants, and a watchful ceramic toad popping up amid the daily rush.

Made by Houston artist and educator Paul Kittelson, the installation invites drivers to take a quick break from their commute and step into a creative world inspired by the tiny ecosystems right under our feet.

Eastchase Island tells a sweet fable about living together and dancing gently with nature in our everyday lives.

Fort Worth Envision Center and the Fort Worth Municipal Court will be at the Court in the Community Warrant Forgiveness event from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Aug. 8, at Southwest Community Center, 6300 Welch Ave. in Fort Worth.

This friendly “Safe Harbor” event helps up to 120 people—first come, first served—who have outstanding citations with Fort Worth Municipal Court.

Everyone is welcome to come resolve their cases without fear of arrest, and you might even qualify for alternatives like community service or a reduced fine based on what you can afford. More details at

The City of Fort Worth invites all interested residents and organizations to provide feedback on the upcoming 2026-2027 Annual Action Plan. This plan outlines how our city will utilize federal funds provided by the U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development (HUD) to support critical community needs. We are currently accepting public comments and hosting public hearings regarding the following programs:

𝘞𝘰𝘯𝘥𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘩𝘰𝘸 "𝘍𝘰𝘳𝘵 𝘞𝘰𝘳𝘵𝘩" 𝘭𝘰𝘰𝘬𝘦𝘥 𝘭𝘪𝘬𝘦 𝘣𝘢𝘤𝘬 𝘪𝘯 1776? The city we know today as Fort Worth did not exist in 1776, when the Declaration of Independence was being signed in Philadelphia. This image shows how the area may have looked 250 years ago. The land we now call Texas was then a vast frontier province of New Spain and the area where Fort Worth stands today was largely open prairie and part of the territory controlled by the Comanche Nation, one of the most powerful Indigenous nations in North America.

It would take nearly 73 more years before Fort Worth was established as a U.S. Army military outpost in 1849.

During this period, the Comanche actively traded with Spanish settlers while successfully defending their homelands and maintaining influence across much of the Southern Plains.
