The new Fed Chair put a rate hike back on the table. Stocks went up anyway.

Nvidia’s earnings carried tech Thursday. Then Warsh spoke at Jackson Hole Friday and said inflation is still the job. Markets heard hike risk, faded into the close, and still finished the week green.

S&P +0.49% | Dow +0.53% | Nasdaq +0.85%

Next week is jobs week. Friday’s payroll report settles the argument.

Writing a personal check to your favorite charity is the most common way to give, but for families with complex portfolios, cash donations may leave significant tax advantages on the table.

A strategic giving plan ensures your generosity works double duty. By donating highly appreciated stock directly or utilizing a Donor-Advised Fund, you can eliminate capital gains liabilities while maximizing your income tax deductions.

Save this checklist for your next review, or contact our office - we can help you align your charitable giving with your broader tax plan.

The 30-year Treasury hit a 19-year high this week. That’s the whole story.

Stocks didn’t fall on earnings. They fell on bonds. When long-term yields rise, future profits are worth less today, and that hits high-multiple tech hardest.

S&P -1.4% | Dow -0.9% | Nasdaq -2.4%

Next week: Nvidia Wednesday, PCE and Jackson Hole Friday.

Many business owners view their company as their primary retirement vehicle. They put money into operations, assuming their eventual exit will fund the next chapter of their lives.

But paper valuation doesn't automatically translate to a sustainable paycheck in retirement. If market conditions change or your exit timeline is delayed, your financial security may be compromised.

A resilient wealth strategy requires systematically pulling profits out of your business today to build an independent, liquid portfolio that secures your lifestyle - no matter what happens to the company.

Are you balancing company growth with personal liquidity? Not sure? Give us a call!

Should you take Social Security at 62, 67, or wait until 70?

Most online calculators focus entirely on a "break-even analysis" - estimating how long you need to live to make waiting for a bigger check mathematically worth it.

But they completely miss a massive variable: portfolio preservation.

If you delay Social Security until 70 to get that maximum payout, where is your income coming from in the meantime? If you are forced to aggressively drain your personal investment accounts during those early years, you risk permanently damaging your portfolio's compounding power.

Retirement planning isn't about maximizing a single government benefit in a vacuum - it's about protecting your total wealth.

Want help coordinating your retirement income timeline? Let’s talk!

The four biggest cloud companies just committed to spending three-quarters of a trillion dollars on AI this year.

Microsoft surged 16% in a single day after Azure grew 43%. Amazon jumped 15% on record margins. Together, Alphabet, Amazon, Microsoft, and Meta guided to $720-745 billion in combined 2026 AI capital spending.

For the week: S&P 500 +1.05%, Dow +1.04%, Nasdaq +1.59%.

Not everything was green. Apple beat on earnings but issued weak guidance citing supply constraints, and the stock dropped 7%. The Fed held rates steady at 3.50-3.75% with three dissenters pushing for a hike.

Next week: July jobs report Friday August 7. After a weak June (57K jobs added), this number will tell us whether the labor market is stabilizing or softening further.

At Paragon, we build portfolios with individual stocks and bonds — which means weeks like this create real opportunities for tax-loss harvesting and strategic repositioning.

We are thrilled to welcome back Cole Ferguson for his second year!

Cole has hit a major milestone since last summer: he passed his Series 65 exam! We are impressed by his dedication and are rooting for him as he prepares for the National CFP exam in July 2027.

Welcome back, Cole! It is great to have you on the team.

The Magnificent Seven just lost $797 billion in a single day — their worst session since the tariff shock last April.

The trigger? Alphabet spent $45 billion in one quarter on AI infrastructure and raised its full-year capex guide to $205 billion. That turned their free cash flow negative for the first time since their IPO. Tesla missed on earnings and Musk called 2026 “a year of massive capital deployment.”

The market isn’t questioning whether AI will matter. It’s questioning whether companies can spend hundreds of billions a year and still generate the returns shareholders expect.

Next week: Fed rate decision Wednesday. Microsoft, Meta, and Apple all reporting earnings.

At Paragon, we build portfolios with individual stocks and bonds — which means we can respond to weeks like this with precision, not panic.

Is your investment strategy suffering from "portfolio leakage"?

It’s easy to focus entirely on top-line performance. But hidden frictions—like idle cash, high internal fund fees, and unmanaged risk—can quietly chip away at your returns behind the scenes.

A truly optimized portfolio isn't just diversified; it's engineered to minimize friction so more of your growth stays exactly where it belongs: in your account.

When was the last time your portfolio was audited for internal fees and cash efficiency?
