Attention Clients
The MICPA as well as the Michigan Department of Treasury have issued bulletins regarding taxpayer Notices of Adjustment that have been issued in error. These are primarily related to taxpayers who made quarterly estimated tax payments for the 2025 tax year.
The Michigan Department of Treasury has also issued Reminders of Tax Due for clients who filed returns for the 2025 tax year with balances due. In some cases, Treasury has refunded the interest and penalty portion of the payments made. Per an April 30th update on the Michigan Department of Treasury Solutions tracker, these payments should be returned to Treasury. If they are not, a Notice of Assessment will be sent in the coming weeks.
