Knowledge check ✅

It is essential to understand that tax deductions and tax credits serve different purposes. Tax deductions reduce your taxable income, thereby decreasing the overall amount of income subject to taxation. In contrast, tax credits directly lower your tax liability, which can result in a reduced tax bill and potentially lead to a refund.

Did You Know? You Can Call the IRS Offset Number for Information!

Navigating the complexities of tax season can be overwhelming, but did you know that there’s a helpful resource available to you? If you’re concerned about potential offsets to your tax refund, you can call the IRS Offset Number to get important information about your tax situation.

The IRS Offset Number is a specific line you can call to inquire about your tax refund and whether it will be reduced due to unpaid debts. Offsets can occur when the IRS withholds part or all of your tax refund to pay off debts owed to federal or state agencies, such as:

- Unpaid federal taxes
- Student loans
- Child support payments
- Other government debts

To get information about possible offsets to your tax refund, you can call the IRS Offset Number at 1-800-304-3107. This number is specifically designated for inquiries related to refund offsets.
