If college is on the horizon, investing conversations should start now.

High school is often when money starts to feel real for kids. Part-time jobs replace allowances, spending choices have consequences, and college costs become more tangible.

Now is a good time to introduce investing, not as a lesson in markets or returns, but as a way to understand how money works over time, why risk exists, and how patience often matters more than reactions.

It also helps to talk openly about mistakes. Learning why they happen can be just as valuable as learning what to do right.

A few simple conversations now can help kids see money as a tool, not a scoreboard.

How are your 2026 financial resolutions holding up one month into the year?

If you find your motivation lacking, it doesn’t mean your plan failed. It usually means the goals were too big or too rigid.

Now is a great time to simplify and regroup. Instead of adding more rules or tracking everything, focus on one small action that’s easy to repeat. Over time, it’s these small, consistent steps that create structure and momentum.

FAFSA season is here, and the rules have changed.

Recent updates to how income, assets, and household information are reviewed mean some families may see financial aid results that look very different from prior years. This is especially true for households with higher incomes or multiple students.

With key deadlines approaching, timing plays a bigger role than many families expect.

Inflation can have a profound effect on your retirement. As costs rise, fixed income sources stretch less than expected. Contribution limits can increase, but purchasing power often moves in the opposite direction.

That tension is becoming more noticeable in retirement planning conversations, especially for those nearing the transition out of full-time work. At that stage, long-term sustainability tends to matter more than the short-term ups and downs.

Spring SATs are just around the corner. For students, the test can feel like just another hurdle, but for families, it can influence more than just admissions. Strong scores can open doors to merit scholarships, honors programs, and lower college costs.

Now is the time to think strategically. Reviewing 529 contributions, exploring scholarship opportunities, and mapping out your application plan can help you make the most of your student’s results.

Stop feeling boxed in by your financial plan.

Many advisors can only offer products their firm carries. An independent advisor isn’t limited that way. They can explore a broad range of strategies, all built around your life instead of a product list.

At Truvium, independence means we can tailor your plan to your needs. Your plan should work for you, not the other way around.

Do you know the hidden risks in your 401(k)?

Many people assume that regular contributions are enough. But even a well-funded account can have risks:
🚩 Too much in company stock
🚩 Fees quietly reducing returns
🚩 Drifted asset allocation
🚩 Potential penalties for early withdrawals

So what can you do? Start by reviewing your plan with a clear eye. Check your allocations, understand the fees, and consider whether your 401(k) aligns with your broader retirement goals.
