The IRS recently introduced a new automatic penalty relief process.

Eligible taxpayers may automatically receive relief from certain failure-to-file, failure-to-pay, and failure-to-deposit penalties for eligible 2025 tax returns, 2026 quarterly returns, and future tax periods.

Generally, eligibility requires a history of filing and paying on time. The IRS says taxpayers must have filed and paid on time for the past three years, or for the past 12 consecutive quarters when quarterly returns apply.

Not every taxpayer will qualify, so do not ignore an IRS notice. Our team can help you understand your options and determine whether additional penalty relief may be available.

Back-to-school season brings new expenses for families, especially when college is part of the plan. From supplies and technology to tuition, housing, books, and meal plans, costs can add up quickly. A little planning now can help reduce stress later.

A few smart steps to consider:
- Set a realistic budget before shopping or making large payments.
- Separate one-time costs from monthly expenses.
- Compare textbook, technology, and housing options.
- Talk with students about spending limits and managing money.
- Keep organized records of education and childcare expenses for tax time.

College is an exciting milestone and a significant financial commitment. Thoughtful planning can help families feel more confident about the year ahead.

Rochester is built on relationships. Local businesses and the families behind them - our community is strongest when people take care of one another.

At RAC, we believe accounting is about more than tax returns and financial statements. It is about listening, asking the right questions, and helping clients make informed decisions for what comes next.

We are proud to serve the Rochester community and grateful for the trust our clients place in us each day.

Relationships are more than a value at RAC. They shape how we serve every client. We believe thoughtful advice starts with taking the time to understand the person and business behind the numbers.

That may mean we are not always available at a moment’s notice. But when we connect, you can expect our full attention, clear communication, and guidance tailored to your situation.

We do not believe in rushing conversations or offering one-size-fits-all answers. Your financial decisions matter, and you deserve the time, care, and perspective needed to make them with confidence.
