Stop chasing clients for your fee.

With professional tax software and integrated bank products, eligible clients can choose to have your authorized preparation fees deducted directly from their tax refund instead of paying you upfront.

That means no awkward payment reminders. No chasing anyone down after the season. You set your fees, the bank product handles the collection, and you get paid through the process.

This is one of the biggest differences between preparing taxes as a favor and running a real tax office.

And here's why the timing matters: the IRS is phasing out paper refund checks and moving taxpayers toward direct deposit and bank accounts. Clients who already expect their refund electronically are the easiest clients to serve with bank products.

If you've been preparing returns and then chasing people for your money, it's time to run it like a business.

Let's clear something up, because I get this question all the time.

A service bureau is not a tax office with a fancier name.

A tax office prepares returns. A service bureau supplies the software, bank products, and backend support that tax offices (EROs) use to prepare and file those returns.

Think of it like this. The tax office is the restaurant. The service bureau is the supplier who makes sure the kitchen has everything it needs to stay open.

Here's what a service bureau owner actually does:
• Provides EROs with professional tax software
• Gets them set up with bank products so their clients have refund options
• Onboards new offices and gets them ready before season starts
• Answers the "why did this reject?" call at 9pm in February
• Recruits and supports the offices in their network

And here's what it is not:
• A way to skip learning taxes
• Passive income you set and forget
• A business with no one to support

If you've been preparing for a few seasons and you understand how an office runs under pressure, you already know more about this side of the industry than you think. The real question is whether you want to keep working inside someone else's network or build your own.
I'm spending this week on the service bureau side of the business. Drop your questions in the comments and I'll answer them in the posts.

'But Cait, I don't know anything about taxes yet. Can I still join Launch My Tax Office?'

Baby, YES. That's literally what it's for.

Launch My Tax Office takes you from zero to running your own office: tax training that actually makes sense, pro software, PTIN and EFIN guidance, bank products, business setup, pricing, workflows, marketing — all of it.

You don't need experience. You don't need a business degree. You need somebody to show you the steps in order, and that's me.

Tax season is right around the corner. DM me LAUNCH and let's get you set up.

Y'all be waiting to 'feel ready' before you launch your tax office. Let me tell you something: ready is a myth.

Nobody feels ready. The preparers doing 300 returns this season didn't feel ready either. They just started, learned as they went, and figured it out.

You'll never know everything before you begin. Tax law changes every year — even the veterans are still learning.

Stop waiting for permission. Start now, learn fast, adjust later. The only people who lose are the ones still 'getting ready' in February.

Agree or disagree? Let's talk about it in the comments.

Sunday reflection…

I didn't start teaching tax pros because I had it all figured out. I started because I remember what it felt like to want my own tax office and not know where to start. No mentor, no roadmap, just Google and prayer.

Everything I teach inside Launch My Tax Office is what I wish somebody handed me back then.

If you're in that 'I want it but I don't know where to start' phase — I see you. I've been you. And you don't have to figure it out alone.

10/17/2026

Real talk, tax pros… what's your number for this season?

Not 'I hope I get some clients.' A NUMBER. 50 returns? 100? 300?

Drop your goal in the comments. Saying it out loud makes it real. And I'm going to hold y'all to it.

Louisiana tax pros, real quick.

If your clients are in Avoyelles, East Feliciana, Lafourche, Pointe Coupee, St. Charles, St. Landry, St. Tammany, Terrebonne, or Winn parishes, their extended deadline is NOT October 15.

The IRS gave those parishes until November 2, 2026 because of Tropical Storm Arthur.

So if you serve any of them, you get a little breathing room. Just don't mix it up though. The payment deadline was still April 15. Filing extension, not payment extension.

Let me put y'all on to something that separates hobby preparers from real tax offices: bank products.

Bank products let your clients get their refund fast — and let YOU get paid your fees straight out of that refund. No chasing clients for payment. No 'I'll pay you Friday.'

But here's what nobody tells you: you can't just sign up. You need your EFIN first, then you apply through a bank partner, then you get approved.

This is exactly why I tell y'all to start in October. By the time season hits, you're approved and ready to collect. The girls who wait till January? They're watching everybody else get paid.

Save this one.

Tax pros… if you're drowning in extension returns right now, sit with me for a second.

You're tired. All that work and you're still wondering where the money went.

Let me put y'all on to something. The workload was never your problem. You just proved you can find clients and get returns out the door.

Your problem is everything around the work. Software held together with duct tape. No workflow, so every return took twice as long. Bank products not set up right, so you left money on the table.

You don't have a client problem, baby. You have a structure problem.

Next season doesn't have to feel like this. Launch My Tax Office gives you the whole setup: PTIN and EFIN, bank products, pricing, workflows.

Finish the pile. Then come build it right.

Louisiana tax pros, one more thing. If your clients are in a Tropical Storm Arthur parish, their deadline is November 2, not the 15th. Payment was still due April 15 though.

POV: your client disappears for 3 months, then texts you April 13th talking about 'hey, can you do my taxes real quick?'

Baby… 'real quick' WHERE? The IRS don't do 'real quick.' 😭

Tax pros, what's the wildest last-minute client message y'all ever got? I know y'all got stories. Drop them in the comments.
