Many Americans woke up this morning to some additional money in their bank accounts from the advance child tax credit. This is not stimulus money. This will reduce your child tax credit when you file your 2021 taxes. Make sure you plan accordingly.

For all my friends with mortgages, we bought our house in 2016 with a rate of 3.375 on our mortgage. I never in a million years thought that we would ever refinance. This week, I got a rate of 2.625. This rate eliminated PMI due to a huge appreciation of our home value. It is also saving us over $300/month. If your rate is higher than my original 3.375, shoot me a PM for a mortgage person who can run a quick cost saving scenario for you. It’s worth the 5 minutes of your time!

For the small business owners out there, the banks will be the ones administering the forgivable SBA loans. The Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL) currently available on the SBA website is not the surplus package loan. We are advising our clients to wait for the banks to rollout these loans, hopefully later this week.

Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin announced that individuals and businesses can delay their tax payments for 90 days due to the coronavirus pandemic.

If you own a rental property or small business and paid an unincorporated person or business for services over $600 via cash or check, you are required to issue them a 1099. This includes individuals, LLCs, partnerships and alike. This does not include product purchases, incorporated businesses or purchases made via credit/debit card. These 1099s are due by 1/31.
