**Important Info!!**

I wanted to take the time to notify you of the new Wisconsin Child Sales Tax Rebate. Starting today May 15th, 2018 you will have the chance to file a claim to receive a child sales tax rebate. This is due to a strong economy in the tax year of 2017 that resulted in a surplus in the Wisconsin State budget. This budget totaled to almost $400 million for the state. Governor Walker and our state legislature have decided to return some of the surplus to the taxpayers that are raising a dependent child.

Dates to remember: Filing start date is May 15th, 2018 and the filing deadline date is July 2, 2018. They are looking at August being the payout month, where you will receive your $100 rebate.

Qualifications:
• Child must be under the age of 18
• Child must be a dependent of the claimant for tax year of 2017
• Child must be a Wisconsin state resident
• Child must be a US citizen

What you need to file your claim:
• Go to childtaxrebate.wi.gov
• Social Sec. Number
• The eligible child’s social sec. number
• Bank routing and account number for direct payment
• If you are a nonresident or have moved out of WI in the year 2017, you have to show at least $100 of WI state sales tax paid in the year 2017 for each child that is eligible.

Should you have any questions regarding the process please don’t hesitate to reach out to me. If you have tax related questions please contact your accountant or tax advisor.
